Anyone watch it here? I just recently started and I'm already on Season 3. It's so addicting and I can definitely say I'm attached to it.

I really like the show. Criminal Minds seems to be one of the most realistic and darkest of most crime shows lol. It's a good show

I really really love it :D I'm most entertained by how they don't just try to solve the crimes, but like its name they try to find out why the criminal did what they did

I do, me and my family love it. I like all the detectives too, even the ones that aren't there anymore.

It's on Netflix up to season 8. And like other shows that aren't over with, more seasons will become available as time passes.

I've never been affected by a TV show so much. After about 3 episodes, it's too much for me to keep watching and I need a break because of the nature of it.

Yeah, some shows really hit me hard too. I've already known these types of people exist, but not their specific actions or what they think, and the way this show protrays that really gets me paranoid sometimes.

I haven't seen all of the show but have seen a ton of episodes randomly over the years it's been on the air. Really good show -- now knowing that it's on Netflix I may watch more of it.

Or more so there are issues with the people that actually committ those crimes.

just because there is murder of children and rape and violence in the world doesnt mean every tv show need to show it every day.. serial killers doesnt happen SO often in america as it does on criminal minds.

Uhm, you're not very aware then because, yes it does..and the events of the show are not all day after day. Also, the premise of the show is to represent these situations anyway so your claim that it shouldn't be shown is invalid.

Murders happen every day, if not every hour. It's not a nice thing to think about, but it happens. It's not like Criminal Minds is on every second of the day and is dedicated to the most graphic deaths television has ever seen.
Some of the things that have happened in the tv show are similar to events that have happened in real life; so it's not all made up.
Yes Criminal Minds might be violent, but you're not forced to watch it and if you don't like it you can always turn the channel.

Agreed!

I absolutely love Criminal Minds. I love the actors, I love the show, I love pretty much everything about it. The acting is absolutely amazing and it's one of the most realistic shows I've watched. Sick and tired of CSI which shows such graphic scenes of opening up cadavers and all sorts.
Criminal Minds actually warns viewers of events that could happen in real life, which I think is really good. I'm sure at least one person has been saved from walking into a dangerous situation because of the tv show.
I've watched a few seasons of it and it's very addictive! Also, I wrote an email to Matthew Gray Gubler (who plays Spencer Reid) and he replied!! One of the happiest moments of my life :)

yeah and there was a news story about a boy who killed his dad or something and he said he thought he would get away with it because he had seen an episode of criminal minds where a boy did just that.
the last episode i saw of criminal minds we had to look at a crazy woman force another woman down on her knees in her kitchen and the woman cried and begged and said "please i was raped once" to try and get sympathy and the crazy woman went nuts and forced the poor lady to take of her dress and the woman in her underwear starts praying to god as the crazy lady is pointing a gun at her head... and the crazy lady goes even more nuts because of the religious praying and ends up emptying her gun in the lady massacring her to death, and scenes like this happens in every episode ive seen.
thats a disgusting thing to show on such a simple show, if it was a really good movie id understand it more... my mom knows writing, she lets me see some of these shows because she explains how its all fake etc so i can tell difference between a tv show violence and real life but criminal minds is disturbing.. and she picks apart the dialogue there all the time and says how poorly its written, in the same episode my mom commented at how one of the criminal minds guys says at a murder scene "we need to get fingerprints of these soda cans on the table".. well DUUUUH!!! no fbi dude would say something so obvious, they fingerprint everywhere! in the same episode a police detective says at a horrible crime scene "were not used to this, this place looks like something from a cable tv show"! Hah. He nailed it! criminal minds is not a normal representation of DAILY life in america. if you think that then you have a problem. :D
my mom says the show confuses showing nasty violence with good storytelling to build drama!

I love how you point out that that's obvious when you can't see that what goes on in the show is real life, and actually in some situations, a LOT LESS graphic than real life.
And there was a kid who hijacked a truck and tried sneaking into the airport because he thought he could get away with it like on GTA, is that the game's fault? Not per se, it's the boy's for making a stupid decision.
and it's not a simple show really, it ventures into the minds of criminals...And again it is what goes on DAILY - EACH HOUR, so no nothing is wrong with us. You need to go outside your room more, pick up a book :/

There was also a boy who killed one of his parents because of an episode of Coronation Street (it's a British Soap Drama which is practically harmless and has death storylines approximately once a year. It has way more storylines of people cheating on their partners than death.)
Of course, people get ''ideas'' from tv shows, but that's not the show's fault. People could even watch a game of tennis on tv and claim that ''Roger Federer made me batter a granny to a pulp with a tennis racket.'' It doesn't excuse the person's behaviour, and they had to be thinking of doing the crime before they even saw the episode. No sane person watches a tv episode that contains murder and randomly decides, ''Hmm, I'd love to kill my family member!'' People will say anything to get themselves off the hook for murder.
Obviously Criminal Minds is not a portrayal of daily life in America. However, it is a FBI CENTRED TV DRAMA. I'm not trying to be rude, but what exactly do you think their episodes would entail? Heck, it's pretty obvious from the show title; ''Criminal Minds''. Minds of criminals; a show based on criminals. Most of their episodes contain death, which isn't exactly surprising. Most shows are not portrayals of life for the average American. Pimp My Ride or Sweet Sixteen isn't exactly a portrayal of daily life in America either.
In my opinion, Criminal Minds is more conservative compared to the likes of CSI: Miami which constantly shows scenes of people's organs being taken out.
No-one is forcing you to watch Criminal Minds. It's not exactly designed for the whole family to watch anyway. If someone is mature enough/comfortable enough to watch it; I'm not going to stop them.
I have no problems with you and your mother not wanting to watch it. However, it's insultive to say that the show's producers/writers must have something wrong with them to write such a tv show. The things that are portrayed on Criminal Minds are definitely not a representative of the producers' mental health.
Criminal Minds shows people that; ya, crimes do happen, but the perpetrators will be caught and it'll end badly for them. It's not telling people to go out and kill people without there being repercussions.
tl;dr: Stop slandering and insulting this show's creators just because you disagree with the premise of the show. Worse things happen in real life. Plus, seeing as you think this show is so dangerous and is encouraging irresponsible behaviour; weren't you the person who was ''drunk'' a few days ago at the age of 13?

And that is why I can only watch so many episodes until I have to take a break. I'm usually not affected by movies/TV, but the parts about little kids being abducted and killed and stuff... That really hits me where it hurts. Just the other day, I was watching an episode where something really bad happened to a 17 year old girl who had dirty blonde hair. That hit home for me so much because my girlfriend of a very long time has those features.

I really like this show too, but I can't watch it with the intention to de-stress from life.
I also plan to use this series if I become a parent to put meaning behind stories of "stranger danger" and the importance of the "buddy system" and to not necessarily trust some person knocking at the door because they're in a uniform.
There's a lot of good tactics criminals use to get their victims and I intends to use this show to help point those out so any of my friends or family can devise counter measures to the best of their ability.

I tend to agree with hyperdude. I've only watched a few episodes, at a friends house, because my parents wont let me watch it. And I understand why.
I don't think its necessary to show the graphic violence and gore to tell the story. Without that, the stories might even be better. Yes, I know it happens in real life. Gods, I live in LA, it happens all over here all the time. But I don't need to see it in detail. I know my parents have sex, but I don't want details and I don't want to see it. Same with violence.
Plus, I kind of agree with my parents. They believe that young minds have trouble not carrying TV/movie action into real life. They think I am old enough to not be bothered with it, but they are probably wrong. I am still young enough. Sometimes I will see a movie that I really like, and I almost live in that movie for like 3 hours after I see it. I think they have a good point, that younger minds, like my 13-year old brother, maybe can't really differentiate yet, that things happen in their sub-conscious that might be influence by the violence.
Not saying it isnt a good show. Just saying I like shows better where the story is told without the on-screen violence. Knowing it happened and seeing it happen are different things, but tell the same story.

when it comes to crime shows i like Law and Order SVU better... the drama feels more powerful and touching and the people more real even tho they dont show the same violence or nasty stuff as criminal minds. SVU is often about just as bad things but they manage to tell this without having it look like a scary movie!

I agree with you on that, although I usually find SVU to be more disturbing. I personally think that the seasons of Criminal Minds with Mandy Patinkin were the best. I still like the show and will hapily lose myself in a CM marathon at night, but I thought that the earlier seasons in which they didn't reveal the killer and they actually used believable behavioral deduction to find the killer to be far more entertaining than the current slasher episodes.
