View Full Version : Photographing Teachers

I'm in a bit of a pickle here. Back in November, I asked permission to photograph the board because I wanted to have the diagram. When I went to do it, my teacher stepped into the frame. Before April Fools, I took the picture and zoomed in on the teacher's face. I then added some "arguably defacing" features (sunglasses and a blunt). I then added a caption that pertained to an inside joke that the teacher started. I shared the picture with my friend.

A kid in my class then created a study group on Facebook and the picture reached the group. I was a little concerned at first that I might get in trouble, but it went away UNTIL a few days ago when one of my OTHER teachers was giving us a lecture on taking pictures of teachers and posting them. Some of the kids are in both of my classes, and I am afraid that someone will spill the beans.

I don't even know what the consequences will be if the teacher finds out. My ideology is that the teacher gave me consent to take the picture and clearly knew I was doing so. She then stepped in the way of the camera (on accident). I looked at my school's handbook and it says nothing specific about photography besides that cell phones can only be used with permission. Keep in mind that I am a top student in my grade, I get straight As, and if I get in trouble, it could have an impact on my future. I know I probably made a mistake and I accept it. I just don't know how to approach the situation if it gets to a certain point where I am forced to come clean.

If it's first offense they most likely will let you off the hook.

If not you could end up like this guy in my class: Today he got in trouble for taking pictures of the substitute picture yesterday and such. He got suspended, but only for a day.

You asked for permission to take the photo yes and that's fine and dandy, but you didn't ask permission to edit the picture like that. You don't know whether or not she would get offended if she saw it.

Honesty is the best policy sometimes. I'm sure that it would go better if you told her flat out, rather than keeping quiet and next thing you know you're called into the principals office becuase of Chinese Whispers as to who took the picture.

Just find a slow time to talk to your teacher about the situation and explain it was meant for an April's Fool's Joke and it just went terribly wrong and apologize. You might get into trouble, but at least you were honest about the whole situation and that's good for your concience.

Hopefully everything goes well for you. :)

I personally think you could've done far worse. if you are confronted about it, stress to them that you considered it a harmless tongue-in-cheek inside joke and not meant disrespectfully. hell, you could even say it was an April Fool's thing.

the fact that you have good grades and that (I'm assuming) you don't actually do drugs, should also help your case considerably.

I think I'm in the clear. It's been a few days and no one has said anything. I also realized that there is no way to prove that I made it, which helps. I'll update you with more info if need be.

this. esp if you are not usually the type to get in trouble and do this stuff, I am sure they will be more likely to be understanding

If the teacher remembers you asking to take a "pic of the board" and has possibly seen it....

Even if the other teacher who blindly lectured u guys on it...

Then it could come back to u.
