I don't want this to come off as attacking more as questioning why do so many girls shave cause I'm confused for it looks like your prepubescent and what for how long humans have been on earth with in the past 30 years what every one guess and girls just decided to shave lol. But I digress I'm cool with what ever people do with there genitals just what don't like is when people force others to change for them or to what's the "trend" and to those of you who's it just feels good that's kinda of a cop out why does it feel good to you

I do it because I prefer it neat, clean and smooth. I think it looks better and makes me feel sexy.

Good point. I feel like it would be considered 'disgusting' or something if someone wasn't to do it. Sometimes I wish that it would be completely normal to just be natural. Me personally, I do it because its just more comfortable but I'll always admit that a part of me does it because its what is 'expected'

Honestly, much of today's society believes any form of hair on a woman is unnatural and disgusting (despite the fact that it wouldn't grow if it wasn't natural). Girls are even shaving their arm hair these days...

It's a societal norm that started with legs, arms, and underarms, and has progressed over time. Not too long ago in history, women didn't really shave at all, and neither did men. At one time in history it was also much more acceptable for older men to be sexually active with younger girls (young teenagers), so maybe that has something to do with it since that is very frowned upon today.

Do you think the trend will reverse itself though within the course of the next 50 or 60 years?

Or do you think the shaving trend (not of just the pubis) but of other parts of the body (arms and legs and armpits) will stay with the developed world's culture for longer than that?

Your last claim is interesting, I wish someone could embark on a psychological and sociological study of that.

Geez those are our grandparents or possibly great-grandparents who lived in the time where age-gaps weren't a big deal (approx 115 years ago?).

Maybe I'll write my dissertation on the topic :P

I can't really say for sure how the trend will go, but I think a lot of people are afraid of being stigmatized if they do not shave, since many people seem to expect it to be done without having to ask their partners.

I think the popularity of Olympic swimming kinda redefined what "sexy" was visually, and the increase in the sport for both men and women started, fed, and continues to fuel the anti-hair trend.

And then probably the "I don't like hair in my mouth" argument probably holds true too.

throughout the history of mankind, shaving pubic hair never really showed up until the 80's or so. Throughout the history of the evolution of man, we have had less and less hair as we evolve as a species. Historically, man and society have evolved at a similar rate, allowing time for adaptations to better fit said society. however, at the current rate, the evolution of society and technology are vastly outstripping the evolution of man. thus people feel the need to progress faster, along with society. As aforementioned, the further we evolve the less hair we have, and i hypothesize that the new hairless craze is a subconscious desire to further evolve as a species, to cope with the rapid evolution of technology and society, and thus separate ourselves from our ancestral beings. in addition, biologists predict that as mankind further evolves, less hair will be present, along with other modifications, but this particular aspect outstanding. This hairless policy is not so much an evolutionary desire as it was, but just a social norm now, due to its popularity.

Girls think it looks nicer and feels more comfortable plus most guys like it.It's stereotypical to claim that all guys are turned off by not shaving pubic hair.I actually I don't mind it and I kinda like it.I wrote a paper once on how the media is affecting us.It's leading to eating disorders and shaving because mostly girls but some guys idolize celebrities and must be like them.Just be yourself you don't need to follow stuff like that.

It feels cleaner and smoother, but sometimes I just don't care to leave it alone, no one likes shaving every week/few days... Also, society is so anti-hair on females that I kinda need to remove it (in my case, even my arms) if I want to keep from embarrassing myself/earning remarks :/

I like to shave my and just have a little bit of hair over my clit it makes it easier to finger myself when I masturbate and also for you boys and girls to eat me out

I like how it feels and how it looks. I find it more attractive.

Just personal choice

For personal hygiene reasons I'd imagine...
But then again, society has a lot to do with it these days - girls feel that it is trendy to be shaven, and boys seem to like the idea :)

I personally don't think shaving is such a good idea for both us girls and boys purely because when it starts sprouting again it irritates your skin down there. And if you want to keep it smooth and not have stubble then you'll have to shave it like every 2 days, which would be a pain

I just find it preferable on a personal level, I think it just overall feels better to the touch and looks cleaner.

I do it every day. I'd like to wax, but I know it hurts. I think it would be great to be silky smooth with no hint of stubble and have it last weeks. I've never been waxed and I want to but I'm also scared of it!

I think the best would be to just be perfectly smooth all the time. Maybe when I grow up I will get a laser job so I can be like that. That would be great, if I ever get that kind of money!

um i never had much hair anyway so having just a few hairs felt weird. first time i just used leg hair removal creme. since then i use sugarwax. my grandma taught me to make it at home for legs and it works there too. i feel cleaner and i think it looks better? not that anybody else looks..

IMO, two reasons:

1) Thongs and g-strings and whatnot: If you're gonna wear minimal coverage underwear, a lot of people prefer to keep the hair from popping out. I once read something on that's how shaving started. Shaving before the late 90s wasn't so popular/common...then, as thongs started to become more and more popular, so did shaving.

2) Being eaten out... no matter a girl has a girl's mouth or a guy's mouth down there, it's so much easier without getting a mouthful of hair.

Never been eaten out, but that makes sense.

I kind of want to eat out a girl, and if I did, I would prefer no hair at all!

I don't, mostly because I cant be stuffed.

Originally I just did a lot of trimming to keep it nice and neat, but I started shaving bald so whoever is eating me out can find everything with ease and not get a mouthful of hair. I also started to find the bare look and feeling pretty sexy.

I personally think it's a shame so many girls shave today. It kinda takes away the "element of surprise" of taking girls clothes off for the first time and knowing that she's the same down there as everybody else. I am not pro 70's bush, but a well trimmed pubic region is always refreshing and interesting to see, especially if the girl has blonde / red / some other "untypical" pubic hair color. But that's just me, maybe I'm a bit oldfashioned :P

I only shaved once when I was 12 because I didn't want to have hair I wanted to stay like I was and not be embarrased when I was changing. But after that I have kept it, I don't want to shave, I don't really want to look like a little girl.

I know girls who don't shave in the winter because their legs are covered by pants all the time. I think they do it because it is 'normal' and don't want to seem not normal, or because they/other people like it

They do it because it's how they personally would like their body to appear and feel like rather then having a bunch of hairs like guys. Why don't alot of guys shave all over? Its just a preference

Yea, I prefer girls t be shaved. I don't like getting pubes in my mouth when I'm licking them.
And I think it looks sexier to be able to see them down there, without having to peek through a bush of hair to see their pussy

Some guys think it's a turn on if the girl got some hair on her pussy. I would let the girl decide, since it's her body

Most girls including me feels more sexy and clean when we are smooth and hairless.
And most guys like it best.
And as we like to avoid hair in our mouth, we believe that who ever goes down on us, wants to avoid the hair too.
However I think a bush like in the 70ies look sexy.

I couldn't have said it better :)

But, when it's not swim season I do get lazy and let myself get scruffy. It's really annoying to maintain the smoothness.

That said I would never end something with a woman because she was hairy. It's her choice.

I'll be honest, ladies. It's fun to eat no matter how much hair you have. That being said, I can imagine being hairless makes tongue-to-skin contact that much more enjoyable for you :D

I think it's purely preference influenced by the place they live, the people they live with and personal experience. I don't care what a girl does with her pubic hair, as long as she doesn't have pubic lice.

well I would let her decide too, but I know I prefer shaved and many guys prefer girls to be shaved as well which is why many do it. many do it for other reasons to (like the look, feel, etc)

Maybe I'm wrong here, IDK...but from what I heard, women didn't really shave or trim much until the mid to late 90s. At that time, thongs started to get popular. About 2002/2003, thongs were REALLY INSANELY popular. Anyway, women started to trim/shave so that their hair wouldn't stick out from underneath.

Now that boyshorts and bikinis are starting to rise in popularity, "going bald" isn't as common as it once was.
