right well,
my mouse on my pc was working fine then suddenly I was on bebo and it cut out.
since its a wireless mouse I thought the batteries had gone so I tried my old PS/2 mouse..didn't work, I tried 4 mice, 2 ps/2 mice, one wired usb, and one wireless
I havent a clue whats happend tried reinstalling the drivers for the usb mice but still no success.
I was going to hand it into a pc shop, however Im concerned since theres "non-legal" copy of vista on it (secondary operating system) so I don't want to risk getting my parents in trouble if the shop discovers it.
Any ideas how to fix this because I am stuck on my laptop unless I sort this :P

Have you tried shutting down your laptop, plugging in the mouse, and then turning it back on? Because inserting a new mouse doesn't work for me unless I turn my computer off first.

Oh yes, sorry didn't know what they were called. So you've tried putting the mouse in while the computer is off? And you say they are all old mice you have around? It could be just a major coincidence that all of your mice are dead (Probably not).
Here's a page that seems to describe the problem.

ok, the light should stay on, b/c it was getting power, i think it is a dead USB
as for the PS2 ball mouse, they aren't that good

I disagree with that, I'm using one that is probably like 10 years old and it is working perfectly to me. Try all the mice on another computer, and if they don't work then it's the mice, otherwise, either hardware problem or usb port problem.
