My boyfriend has a disease the doctors dont k ow much a bout. All hes told me is its a form of lyme disease and i know it makes him sleep a lot. But everything i find online has said lymes is only trasmitted through tick bite and he said he got the disease because his mother has it. So I'd like to better understand it

I think that if the parent has it, it can definitely be transmitted genetically but is uncommon however the main cause of the disease is through tick bites

genetic diseases aren't caused by an infectious agent, but by mutations in the person's DNA/RNA. sort of like how a mistake in the CSS code can break a webpage. Lyme disease is caused by a bacterium which has nothing to do with genetics and isn't inheritable
