I'm not talking about the ones like Viagra or maybe even VS commercials, but I have noticed so many commercials, that are in no way sexual, (Not even in a fetish sense) that have been sexualized. Now it doesn't bother me at all, I'm totally fine with it. But does anyone know why they sexualize so many TV commercials? What's your opinion on the topic?

omg

I saw a commercial introducing a new vacuum, and to me, it was really inappropriate.

Here are some lines, if I can remember

So parents are on a couch and they're like

"We only do it once a year"
"Her: I do it alone, Him: and sometimes I watch"

then there's a kid playing basketball or something and he's like

"When my parents do it, they keep me outside" or something like that

I hope someone saw the same commercial as I did.

I think some of them are funny. However.. I wouldn't want any kids watching them.

Exactly. I also find them funny. And I have no problem with them. My concern is just kids being present while they are being shown. Even if they wordage is made so they can't understand what it means, it's not a good idea when kids are awake.

Sex sells!

While I'm not fond of this train of thought, but adding sexuality into advertising also diminishes the taboo around it. So... yay?

As Typhlosion said, sex unfortunaly does sell..

One of the most sexualized commercials I've seen is this one Superbowl commercial for hamburgers, and it showed a naked woman walking through a market area with a ton of older men gawking...I thought it was really disgusting tbh

It's so that people notice that advert even if slightly inappropriate it's making you watch it

sexual advertising is really annoying and creepy and unless the product advertised is of an inherently sexual nature it just doesn't belong. I get why advertisers do it. it's just really awkward when a shampoo commercial shows a seductive model in the shower rubbing herself all over and pulling orgasm-faces like the shampoo is a super-potent aphrodisiac or some shit. the purpose of shampoo is to rinse the grease out of your hair, not turn you into a virile sex god/goddess lmao

come to think of it, why do we even need ads for mundane shit like shampoo that everyone uses (except for Bright Nights cause he's a ratchet ass hobo)? so much wasted electricity, man.

yeah we should start a class action case and sue the company for false advertising (this shampoo doesn't turn me into a sex god as advertised):D:D

Why do you think?

Commercials need to be attractive,Sexual things are attractive. They just care about its attractivrness, not the consequences which it may have on its viewers, whether children or adults.

Sexualized commercials are hilarious comedy fodder.

I don't read into it any more than that, but it works because the humor makes you remember the products.

This. And this one more time.

Seriously, you need to sort out your priorities when it comes to choosing a hair product.

Also how did this thread even end up in ROTW?

i think it can be hilarious, but it's often just stupid.

There's some commercials that never were allowed to air that are sexualized and they're hilarious XD.

There's different levels of it though.

Like kids usually will not get the sexual puns or jokes, unless it is blatantly obvious.

During friend get togethers like birthdays or New Years parties we watch commercials because they are halarious and unrealistic.

It's not mentally scaring at all, kids aren't as fragile us they are stereotyped to be. If anyone does have a problem, they won't watch with the rest of us and we respect that.

I think everyone's seen the BK commercial with the girl seductively eating a hamburger. This seems to be a prominent thing in today's society.

But hey, sex sells I guess? Personally, I think it's quite unnecessary to put that kind of stuff in commercials which promote products and goods that aren't even remotely about sex or sexual things.

Anyways, that's my take on it.

I'd have to agree with that context. To me that's what I meant by blatant commercials in my last post.

What happened to the goold ol' days when such commercials seemed too graphic to be aired. Of course, there are one or two that passed and they were deemed as "bad ass", but still - better times than today.
And we're getting used to seeing these nowadays.

I personally enjoy watching funny/silly and fun commercials that don't need sex to do so.
Whatever anyone says, I still adore this commercial

Idk if commercials matter much anymore.

Nobody really watches commercials anymore. We skip em unless the commercial itself is entertaining.

We all are on social media and we tend to ignore the ads.

I don't give them much thought really, they've always been there, and always will be, like it or not. I do enjoy those with a funny twist though, but that goes for any kind of commercial, regardless. :)

Some of them do care about the consequences it may have on people and it's one of the purpose why it is sexualised.
