View Full Version : Are typing jobs from home a viable option for fifteen year olds?

I realized that i am, well, relatively good at typing fast and i have proper knowledge of the English language. With 122 words per minute and apparently being better than 99.86% of everyone on my first try. Can i use this to my advantage? Are there any jobs that involve (or, rather, revolve around) typing that i could do from right here- behind my PC? My internet connection isn't the best of the world but it's still pretty damn good and i would love to be able to make any amounts of money just typing stuff. I've been doing some research but most things i found either require a fee being paid for applying or need people to be 18+.

Can anyone help me? Is it a viable option for a 15-year old?

EDIT: Tried again! Ended up with 130 words per minute, better than 99,9% of the world. Do i get a cookie now?

Hi Simon,

That's some pretty impressive stuff you have there! Have a cookie! :D

Unfortunately, I'm not sure if The Netherlands will offer administrative posts for 15-year-olds?

I know that in the UK, there are some administrative apprenticeship posts going for school-leavers (typically 16 year olds), but normally those require you to satisfy other criterion: e.g. proficient in MS Word/Excel/Access, and the ability to deliver a good customer service.

So perhaps it may be a good idea to train yourself up in MS Word/Excel/Access (if you haven't already), as it'll look good on your CV.

Hope that helps,

Andy

Thank you very much for the reply!

I don't currently have MS Word on my computer and i can't install it until i get a USB CD reader, but i know most of the functions/buttons etc. by heart.

I'll have to try and do something about delivering a good customer service, however. My social anxiety and the fact i'm a huge introvert might cause difficulties there.

I'm continuing my ventures online, although i keep finding stuff that you need to be at least 18 for.

Having the ability to type fast is a good talent to have.

There are lots of jobs online in which you can use your fast typing skills. However, there are many scam companies and website. I would probably stay away from scams. If you run across a website in your search, find out more about it to see if it's legit and isn't a scam.

Of course you can always call different companies like newspaper companies or county buildings and ask if they have any clerical jobs.

I agree with what Andy said, knowing how to operate MS Word and Excel is also good.

I wish you good luck though. :)

I doubt that there would be many jobs that will hire a 15 year old. Once you're 16, you might not have a problem. If you can find one, I'd suggest family owned businesses or non professional businesses. So rather than choosing a major store, (Like McDonald's, WalMart, ECT) Look for private owned businesses like a family owned flower shop or something like that.
