View Full Version : Is spooning Ok?

Just got home from my Silver Duke of Edinburgh award and suffice to say it was much harder then Bronze. Silver entails 3 days and 2 nights of walking up every mountain the Welsh Countryside has to offer, then spending your nights in thin tents with a friend at the mercy of the wind.
And. It. Was. Freezing.
I'm not gay, or even Bi (I've tried both and picked my preference) but during the first night my friend was really cold and edged closer and closer to me. He was clearly very cold (I didn't feel it as much) so i offered he jumped into my sleeping bag. He did so, he pushed into my chest (Sleeping shirtless warms up the bag faster) and after some fidgetting he fell asleep with my arms wrapped around him, and he slept the whole night. Unlike me, who woke up several times craving the toilet but not wanting to wake him  The next night the same thing happened as he asked awkwardly if he could share with me again.
Is this something you'd do for your mate or did i cross a line when i offered?

What line do you think you crossed? Unless something else happened you left out, you just helped keep each other warm while camping. No harm, no foul

dude dont fret literally. your bro was just a little cold and it was very nice of you to offer up your sleeping bag to keep him warm. but if i were you, i would try to figure what his sexuality is. it might matter to you, but it really should not.

Now I would have offered him my bag on top of his and slept in my coat, but I'm just awkward like that lol.
I'd say you did the decent thing, had you not you would've been a bit of a dick

How big is your sleeping bag? Every one I've been in would be a really tight fit to add a second person.

It really was. That is kind of the reason why i wondered if i had crossed a line, the fact that if i imagined myself walking in on the scene and what i'd think. And if he imagined the same thing i wouldn't want him to feel weird about it.
I think i just wont mention it, he didn't mention it to our walking group so i wont bring it up unless he does. Nothing happened after all, apart from a joke he made about me jabbing him in the back with morning glory, and you lot are right. I am a good mate!

What you did was the honorable thing in helping your friend in need, I mean, isnt that what friends are for? No worries dude. As far as your friends sexuality goes, it shouldnt matter if hes your friend.

Lol I was kinda wondering how you dealt with morning wood being in that close proximity. But again, you did nothing wrong and it says a lot about your friendship. A lot of guys would be too homophobic to help out a friend who is cold.

I went camping with my girl and she was cold so I did the same thing and your just trying to help your friend so I don't see anything wrong with it. Your just being a good friend.

Your saying it like there is some punishment for your actions, like being gay is a bad thing, or that there are certain rules to being straight. What ever you think is right or wrong is your own answer mate. I personally would do this for a mate.

You didn't do anything wrong. If it were my best friend I'd do the same thing too.

You did a good thing. I think we get too up tight about being in close proximity even when there is nothing sexual about it. Relax and take pride in helping a friend in need.

It's basically survival so in that situation anything like that is really fine if not a really good idea it not like you were jerking off or something

I have offered and my friends have offered for me when in the same situation. It's a nice feeling!

I'm gay so obviously yes! There's no other answer I can give to this question.
