I got diagnosed with gastritis about a month ago, and my prescription grade omeprazole recently ran dry. I started getting symptoms the day that my dog passed away. I was just wondering if anyone else has gone/going through this. I've boiled it down to be caused by one or many of the following:
-Stress. Could be from traumatic experience (such as my dog dying), or in-the present stress (struggling on a test, running late for work, dealing with someone difficult, etc).
-Eating poorly. 70% of fast food has been out of the question for me recently, and even at a place that preps food as ordered, I have to be careful it's not too greasy or acidic or I'll have an uncomfortable experience later
-Failure to take medication

Symptoms I've been experiencing:
-Nausea. This is only present in extreme cases, especially at the beginning before I had my prescription medication.
-Dizziness. Again, only in extreme cases. I don't know if it's a side effect/overdosage of medicine, or if it's caused by eating something I really shouldn't have had (like a cup of coffee). It's enough to render me stuck in bed all day and bring me to the verge of vomiting. I have yet to vomit, though, but when it does happen I'm extremely uncomfortable. I've come close to crying from the discomfort when it's present.
-Bloating and burping. This is the most prominent, constant, and repetitive symptom. It usually will come out as a string of burps then relieve itself for a while. In rare cases it's accompanied with the above, but usually it's independent and can happen multiple times a day. For example, today I had a "string" of burping in the morning, a string in English class, a string at work, and a string after I ate dinner. It's not super uncomfortable (much better than throwing up, farting, or having the shits I guess), though I may sometimes fear that it'll come out as vomiting when combined with the above symptoms.
-Acid refluxing into my mouth has happened a few times now
-Sometimes, even if other symptoms aren't present or occuring, my stomach will just feel sour - especially if I haven't eaten and taken my medication recently. I guess it's because my stomach runs acidic.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? What did your doctor say? Did they refer you to a specialist and if so did you go? What meds are you on and do you have a special diet?
If you're curious, these are the medications I use to help:
-Omeprazole 20mg. Prescription grade. Don't know what it's supposed to do, but in reality it just "mellows out" my stomach. I take it once daily.
-Zantac, over the counter. I use it after I eat potentially problematic foods, or if my stomach is upset. Some days I don't use it at all, other days I max out on it in 4 hours.
-GasX, over the counter. I use it whenever my stomach is experiencing bloating, but not as a preventative measure. Like the Zantac, some days I max out dosage really quickly, other days I don't need it at all.

If anyone has gone through this or similar before, please let me know. I'm kinda tired of this taking over my life :\
