i'm a 13 year old boy (14 in september) and the last year sweating has become a big problem mainly under my arms. i know that sweating under arms is normal when my age but its now really really bad, it feels like its always "wet" and my older brother says i stink a lot, so i have to use a lot of deodorant because im afraid other people will say the same as him.
i dont have extreme sweating elsewhere, its just in my armpits, when i go to bed at night and sleep it goes away.
am i being crazy reacting to this?? its one of many problems bothring me and i dont know what to do.. or is it normal to be sweating ALL the time when you become a teenager???

I remember I used to sweat a lot, but it's pretty leveled out now. If the deodorant you're using isn't working, you could always get the clinical strength kind, that's what I use.

what is a clinical strength deo? english isnt my first language so sometimes my brain stops working on fancy words.. :P i used deo sticks when i was little but with more and more hair under my arms the deo sticks started feeling icky and it looks like deo sticks leave "goo" in the hair, so ive been using a spray deodorant now from hugo boss.
when did the bad sweating stop on you, do you remember? youre 15? im 13 so does that mean its only for a short time? its been like this i think for almost a year now!!

It's just a stronger deodorant, works really well for me. I use the kind that you twist and it comes out, it's kind of like a stick. Spray deodorant doesn't work for me at all. I think my sweating got under control about a year ago, something like that.

I think using the stick is best.I had to start using it around 12 and it only got worse when I got pit hair after 13.But it has leveled out now since I'm approaching 15.

ok.. maybe i have to go back to deo stick again for a while and just try, maybe for a week or two at first... :/
but i dont like the way the stick seems to leave "icky stuff" in my armpit hair ..oh but maybe thats why they call it STICK! sticky icky stuff! :D

Get the liquid gel stick. It doesn't leave icky stuff. Like Old Spice High Endurance. It just feels like someone sneezed on your arm pit for about 30 seconds.

I don't know if mine leaves "icky stuff", but I think I'm too used to it to notice XD

thank you all, this means a lot! this is the first time ive gotten advice about things like this, i dont want to ask my older brother because hes a douche and i cant ask my friends or classmates because i dont even think most of them have started puberty much, also they act like babies and are really childish when it comes to body-things. some of them also make fun of me all the time so..

i dont want to have to be doing that all the time.. i don't like having so much hair under my arms but if i start shaving i'm thinking that means i have to do this all the time for the rest of my life to keep it up?? it sounds like a lot of work then because i read many places that if you shave your armpits it can get itchy when it starts to grow back? it just sounds like its still more relaxing, i mean, not so much trouble to just let the hair itself be in peace.. (sorry english isnt my first language)
it doesnt seem to me like the hair is the main reason because when i remember this started i didnt have as much hair under my arms as now but the smell and sweating was still as bad.. i have to correct a little tho: its the SWEATING thats really the main problem, i realize im supposed to smell when i get older, ive read that everywhere "you grow up, you start to stink" :P :(
so far i'll try going back to deo sticks like some mentioned and see if it does help.. and i'll try some other types of deo sticks. Maybe i shouldnt have changed to spray deodorants or maybe that expensive Hugo Boss SUCKS! (hope not.. i liked that deo smell).

When you shave it , it grows back , that's true , like all body hair . There is no body hair that you can remove for good . It's not hard nor boring , just shave it once a week , and it'll be fine . Always use aftershave lotion , so you can be sure it won't irritate .
If you don't want to shave , then , shower every day , once or twice .. You can't smell bad if you have good and frequent hygiene . :)

It's normal to sweat quite a bit more when you go through puberty and beyond. I know I sweat a lot under my arms, not even anti perspirant works. Your brother may just be teasing you but even if he isn't, showering and using deodorant every day will solve that. if it really does concern you, you can always ask someone more knowledgeable in this sort of stuff, like a doctor.

some people naturally just sweat more under there. try some different deodorants, maybe shower a couple of times a day if you can. it should get better over time, but it is nothing to worry about

I did not sweat at all until 14...Then I was skinny...Then I started to sweat little in the bigning..it far wosened after I put on. Cos my body has to carry extra baggage now...!! What I do is:
Shave my underarms
Take my pants / tee off asap I come home...be in my briefs + tank tpop
If outsiders come I put on a pair of loose shorts which let air circulate thro.
Briefs rather than boxerbriefs cos they keep groin area (most prone to sweat) open.

the deodorant should also be an anti-perspirant. And in the shower, scrubs those pits really hard.

thanks.. i'll write a book one day based on all your tips!
i shower minimum one every day, 2 times if i have basketball practice, but if i have gym in school i dont like to shower long there because the guys in my class are assholes and will soon start teasing me. i will tho try to scrub extra extra hard like Axel says.

i dont have aftershave lotion, not sure i have money to buy it now.. isnt stuff like that expensive? i thought aftershave lotion was for when you shaved with a manual razor? i only have a electric razor. I dont want to use that for my face under my arms ewww. I didnt think i need a manual razor because i dont have that much facial hair i only need to shave cirka 2 times a week.

Listen here kid, I'm 16 and have exactly the same problem as you.
There's a medical condition called hyperhidrosis. http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/hyperhidrosis/Pages/Introduction.aspx
I'm going to the doctors to sort it out as it rules my life.

If it's something really bad that it's affecting your life, it's better to go to the doctor so he can give you something specific to your needs. Anyway, I agree with the guy that recommend the gel stick, it`s amazing, fresh and there isn't the problem with the glue.

i switched to that a day ago and will try that for a while then and see if using spray deo was part of the problem!

You can use baby powder and put it on your armpits it blocks the smell and helps with sweating that's why they put it on babies it's so good when I was 13 the same happened to me so I used this powder you out on your armpits it blocks the smell and it's so good

Hi wanna just say a thank u to u guys who gave good suggestions and heres an update!
I went back to trying gel stick again cirka 2 weeks ago, i found an antiperspirant one at the pharmacy but its not really perfumed so i also now use a body spray every day.
also at the same time i didnt want to shave any hairs but the hairs under my arms are very long so i shortened it, its still the same amount only shorter, i dont know if shortening the hairs had anything to do with it, i suspect it is the new gel stick that helped instead of the old deo spray, because in just these two weeks the problem has almost gone away!!! so this actually is working!!
amazing! i love this website! and thanks to Wafflenado Chickenlover13 NickTheStar Dreamer98 Axel_ and the others who gave me these tips! :D
this really means a lot to me also because of my basketball since it feels less embarrassing now when we're playing matches.
