I got a hairstyle that is 1/2 Mohawk and 1/2 Bald Fade and my own family feels as though its childish. How do you guys feel about it?

I know someone in my year at school with one and he's gotta be 16 I guess so I wouldn't say it is childish. I don't think hair can really be childish, honestly.

well it is not considered the most professional hair cut but there are a lot of people who get Mohawks teens and up. well at least a decent number

I see a lot of little kids with Mohawks...but also teens and up...so it's not a childish hairstyle per se.
Just wear the hairstyle you want no matter what others say.

I don't think so.
However in the end what matters is whether you like it or not.

Not inherently so. It's unprofessional, yes, and sometimes is childish but it's possible to rock a mohawk in a mature way.

Example photo please? I think what you're describing was/is currently a trend here in Brazil.

Whn I was a nursery kid my mom got me to have a Mohawk ...there is a bunch of photos of me skinny as ever, playing in the beach butt naked , without a care in the world, proudly wearing the Mohawk...
This is later on...still with parts of it...sooo childish

Then until like 15 I had longish hair....My GF did not like it from the beginning and got me to crop my long hair when I started to put on a little and my face got filled out..

I think they look cool on some guys, teens, young adults, older adults. If it looks good on you and you like the look, enjoy it. Enjoy being unique!

As SethfromMI has said, though it's not the most professional, I don't think they're very childish. If my hair worked for it, I would've liked one :)

Think it can look pretty good, depending on the guy. Wouldn't have that cut if you were looking for work lol, but for home and school can't see why anyone would have a problem.

I would look like a drug dealer with a mohawk because I wear suits daily, and drug dealers wear suits... kind of? So no, it's not childish. ;3

I don't see it as childish, I see it as expressive.
I wouldn't go to a job interview with a styled up mohawk or something, but it's far from childish.

Hey, if it's not childish for a tribe of badass Native Americans, it's not childish for you.

I agree, its not a very professional haircut and, although I see it still from time to time, its a dying hairstyle

If a little kid has a mohawk he's playing with his appearance. It's OK to laugh at him because little
kids are natural clowns. If an older person has a mohawk you have to wonder what message he
is sending.
I used to see a kid about 13 years old around town who had a high stiff mohawk. My first thought
was that it's fun to live among such colorful people. My second thought was that he was a sad
case. It must have taken him a lot of time and perhaps a helper to put his hair up that way every
morning. He couldn't run and play like ordinary kids because he always wore heavy boots and a
leather jacket. He smoked, which supported his image but was wrecking his health. And he hung
out with older (20-ish) people - they were not his friends; he was their pet.

I'm thinking about getting a baby deathhawk myself at the moment, i think hairstyles are a personal thing - they're something that you can control almost entirely. If you like a haircut, go for it. I rocked a haircut that everyone hated for about 3 years before shaving my head.

I see that this topic is old but I can't stand from adding here my response too :) It's just because I adore such "childish" hairstyles, also different cool ideas for specific youth subculters like punks, goths etc. :) And surely Mohawks belong here, this style is one of my favourite, so many great ideas for it like here http://machohairstyles.com/best-mohawk-haircut/ for example :)
And I saw in general a lot of men and women who still make such "childish" hairstyles on their heads, even in their 30-40s and that always look cool! I don't think that aging means to be boring and no cool at all ;)
