I was unable to go to prom because of financial issues, my girlfriend was a bit upset, but she understood. And she still went, which doesn't bother me, I know she's faithful. The issue comes out when I find that she said she was wearing a certain dress to prom, but Facebook pictures showed otherwise. Although I eventually found out it was just a color filter, but my father says that this thing with the dress somehow ties into the fact that I didn't go to prom. Am I missing something here, or is my dad just being weird? Because I don't see any correlation, maybe I'm just naïve or I don't know.

If he said that her dress was a part of you not being able to go to prom, its probably because they are just overprotective. Nothing you can really do about it.

Maybe you missed some knowledge about girls:

We can have plans all week about what to wear to an upcomming party. For days we are sure to take "the red dress". Its ready. Shoes, underwear and so on. We talk about it and let everybody know about it. But then again 5 minutes before were off to the party we decide to go with the blue skirt. The reasons can vary from mood to how we expect the light to be at the party

How could what color dress she was wearing tie into the fact that you didn't go to prom? Why would she lie about that? I don't think it has any correlation whatsoever. And whether it was a color filter or not, keep in mind what Daniella98 said because that happens more often than not.
