Now I know the most important parts of getting abs is the diet and a shit tonne of cardio but what is the secret to getting those perfect abdominal muscles that you'd be happy to show off all day long?

What do you guys think are the best exercises and in what quantity?
Should you be working like a mad man to get them or take is slow?

Cheers!

Can't go wrong with push ups. Personally I would just enroll at a mma gym the regiments they use will have you ripped. Look for a local muay Thai or boxing gym.

Crunches and sit ups will get you abs, however you need to do cardio to lose weight if you want your abs to actually show. Run or swim or do something like that as well as lots of crunches and sit ups and you'll notice a difference fairly quickly.

Can anyone give me an exact amount of reps and sets to being with, otherwise I end up doing too many or too little. Thanks!

U have to find what works for you. Everyone's body is different. I've had to lose 30 pound in a month for wrestling. I ran 4 miles a day. Did somewhere between 500 and 600 pushups, and 400 situps, I also was taking boxing classes and was doing pull up and set time limits for evertthing. I was taking painkillers to ignore the stress on my body. If you haven't worked out in a while after two weeks lactic acid will be out of your muscles and exercising will be solo much easier. Monitor calorie intake but don't lower to where you pass out. Don't smoke and stay hydrated. If you want to be lean I suggest using supplements. I use creatin. I would start out by doing the bi annual us army physical fitness test to see where your at.

Eat healthy, stay active, do sit ups and crunches and any abdominal workouts you can do at your local gym.

Well everyone has abdominal muscles, and if you want those to show, then I suggest cross country. It is really fun. But you already knew about the cardio part. If you want to define them; try abdominal stretches and work outs (IE sit up),

Many of us have abs..they are just covered with fat...I can tell from my experience...When I was skinny as hell I had a nice "pack"...I could pinch only skin over it....Gained weight mainly settled outside these muscles covering them...Now I can pinch about 2" on my tummy but the muscles are there if I lose weight to my former size they will show up...

Listen here sonnyjim they say abs are made in the kitchen, abs aren't like biceps, if you exercise them they may become more defined and stronger but they aren't going to grow much larger and poke through if you have a high bodyfat percentage. Lose the weight and they come naturally.
