Hey guys,

So I got into a boarding school, one of the top 50 in the country and I'm really looking forward to it. A new start almost. But anyways, I have a few concerns, first off sharing a room with other guys is gonna be a new experience to me, what is it like? To share all the time, what if some one snores? What do you do when you're getting changed, showered? I'm not that confident about my body, will they judge me?

Haha, thanks for reading my questions and I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could clear any, if not all of my questions up.

Thanks Much

I can't say I've ever experienced that but you do get more comfortable with people as time goes on.

Having gone to a boarding school myself, I can assure you that boarding school is just like a normal school, the only difference is that you get to spend your nights there. You will most likely have the opportunity to participate in alot of extra-curricular activities with the other kids :)

As for snoring, there will be some people there who snore but it shouldn't really be that much of an inconvenience lol. If it really bothers you, you can try and swap beds with the person furthest from the guy who's snoring (if that makes sense).

I'm a girl but, um, for showering, shouldn't you be washing in separate cubicles? Not exactly sure why you expect to be showering in full view of the other boys.. When you get changed, you usually have the choice of getting changed in the cubicle where you shower, or you can wrap a towel around yourself and put on your underwear while the towel is still on you.

Just curious; it seems like you've never been in a sport locker room before seeing as you seem unsure about getting changed? That's mostly likely how it will be at your new school. I wish you luck at your new school.

ps; because you'll technically be living with all of the students at your school, the environment should (after a while) feel like a second home, and you'll most likely develop brotherly-like relationships with most of the students :)

Also having gone to boarding school, I find you were judged on everything you did, one guy was ripped into for joining the Navy in CCF (which seems like nothing but it turned out people took the piss out of him for it).

Overall I way prefer state school than boarding.

out of interest, was it a mixed boarding school or a boys only boarding school? I think same-sex schools are generally home to bitchy people tbh, when I went to a same-sex school all of the girls were bitchy and kept criticising me for everything I did. Not to mention the fact that most of them were so sheltered that they'd kick up a fuss if they saw a boy within 10 feet of them.

well I never been in boarding school so take this for what its worth

some people are going to snore. you may be able to change rooms or you might just have to learn to deal with it

if you don't know before hand, you will find out what type of showers they have beforehand. I am guessing more and more of them have individual stalls for people to shower in (though I guess it could be a group/open shower like a gym)

they will tell you the rules, but if it is like some colleges and stuff I visit, I am going to guess a lot of the guys will walk to and from the showers in towel or underwear. some guys are going to be more shy like you, some are not going to care if they are seen naked. I would get used to at least being seen without your shirt and underwear. it would be a hassle to go somewhere to change every time. as far as being naked, depending on the rules of the school, it might be something you and your room mate will have to work out when you move in together
