I was listening to music a second ago on YouTube and noticed my left ear was hearing better than my right. I have always had great hearing. So I wondered if it was the ear buds and put in another pair. Same problem. Should I go get a check up? I heard roughly half the volume of my other ear and played multiple sounds and songs with three different sets of earbuds.

it could just be have more of a wax build up in one ear than the other. i've had that before, but it is always better to be safe than sorry with health so never hurts to get it checked out

How do I solve the wax build up?

If you attend your GP, they can syringe earwax out. Here is an example:

In addition to what the others have said; if you have wax build up, they might be able to prescribe you ear-drops, like Ceremol, etc. I have tiny ear canals which mean I have ear wax problems most of the time; Ceremol works great for me.

One of your ears is natural better at listening to music and the other for hearing talking.

have you noticed this problem in general/having additional problems with your hearing? if you continue to have problems with your hearing then consider going in for a check-up

Even if you once had great hearing, it's possible that you could be developing a problem. But like others have said, it could also be wax build up. My brother is a musician, and was freaking out thinking that he had become tone deaf, but he went to get his ears cleaned by a doctor and it solved his problem, now he says he can hear better than he ever has before. I'd get checked out just to be safe.

^ as Mike said, it is always better to be safe than sorry in the long run, esp with something as important as your hearing

Most likely wax buildup. Although I've personally noticed that if you listen to music with a single earbud in for 15 minutes, you'll hear it differently in your opposite ear(Temporarily) because that ear didn't have any noise experience at all.
