I'm uncut and I say it depends on the situation. For masturbation, sure use spit, why not. For sex, it'd be best to use lube as there's more readily available, the effect lasts longer, and most people are fine with it.

If you want to use spit for intercourse, that's fine just make sure your partner is comfortable with that. If you want to use lube for masturbation, sure that works too.

The problem with spit as lube is that spit itself is more water than anything else. Unless you're sick, there isn't a lot of that thick stuff to spit out. The regular water spit would simply get absorbed by the skin and quickly lose what little slickness there is. In that case, lotion or some kind of actual manufactured lube is much better.

And in case you're wondering about lubes that say "water-based", those have been created with other things in it to make it slicker longer. It just means that it is easy to wash off with water as opposed to oil-based lubes which might require some soap.

But that's off topic. The thing here is that spit is pretty bad as lube. It dries up way too quickly, and there's not enough of that thick substance that is the true slick stuff to use.

Spit is kinda gross, and it only works for about 5 seconds. Its really not good as lube. And it would seem just as important to me to clean the spit off, as it would to clean lube off, so what's the difference? Use something good if you have to clean up anyway.
