I've been diagnosed with depression and anxiety, but my parents think yelling at me telling me that I'm basically a disappointment will fix it. They wonder why I don't want to do anything but just sit in my room or watch tv. It's because I have fucking really bad depression and anxiety so why the fuck would I want to go talk to people all day. If I saw a gun, I would kill myself in a heart beat.

Some parents just don't understand -_-.
My depression has been going on for almost 5 years now and my parents are completely neglecting it, even after I tried everything.
You're parents need to fucking wake up and realize what's going on -__-.

I'm sorry both of you had such a bad experience when it comes to your parents' reactions. I know how hard it is to even open up to them like that, but I can't imagine how sucky it must be if they don't react as you hoped. :/
My parents reacted relatively well... The thing is, my father was severely depressed himself before I was born, so he knows exactly what I'm going through and how to help me get through it. My mother is doing her best to do the same, but it's obviously extra hard for her. She had to stand through my father's depression and now, about twenty years later, the same thing is happening to her only child... But yeah, overall my parents are really supportive and helpful.
I really, really hope that your parents will wake up soon and realize that depression isn't just "a phase" or laziness.

Have you tried talking to them about it? If not, they may not realize the seriousness of the situation, or they may have never had first had with depression at all.
I think it's somewhat normal for parents to react poorly to their child being depressed. I wouldn't say that my mom reacted terribly, but she definitely did not fully understand what I was going through, which was frustrating. I'm sorry that your parents aren't reacting how you would like them to, and aren't helping you along very well, but if you aren't honest with them and tell them how you're really feeling, or tell them that they aren't really helping you, they may not realize.
