And yet people feel like there should be more guns to prevent shootings. Why oh why don't people understand that guns are the reason these shootings happen?

And no I am not trying to offend all Americans here so don't go and attack me. Combine guns with alcohol and drugs which are used at the parties and this is what happens.

I'm not American, but I can see where they're coming from. The gun that the assailant used could have been obtained from the black market, which means that even if guns were illegal in the USA, the event still could have happened. If someone else at the party had a licensed gun, they might have been able to stop the attacker.

Take Luby's Shooting (1991 - I think) for example. Similar scenario, except there were many fatalities. The assailant, George Henard (I think) went into a diner that was filled with people. He shot and killed about 23 people including himself. I'm not sure if his gun was licensed or not - I don't think it was ever clarified. One of the survivors said that if she hadn't left her licensed gun in the car, she might have been able to defend the people inside the restaurant and herself. Shootings still happen in the UK and other countries where guns are banned. Idk, it's kind of weird.

I hope everyone makes a full recovery.
