What do you think of them? Do you think they are priced for too much money? Just a single one of is worth more than a car. I know they look really nice, but I think they cost too much. What is your opinion on them?

totally agree with you. I mean, they are a very high quality watch, no mistake about it. I am sure they have a great warranty. but it is a crazy amount of money to spend on a watch. the fact they can cost more than a car is super expensive. and the watch I have keeps time just fine. but this is coming from someone who would probably never be able to afford to buy a Rolex. I guess if one had countless money, I can see where they might as well have a fancy watch . I could find a lot of other ways to spend that much money though

They are 100% worth it, top quality watches with history. As long as they do not break, you can only really gain money on them.
Very good looking ones watches, a good asset too.

if you have $20,000+ just to spend on a watch sure, of course they are. most people do not have that much money to spend on a watch, nor will they ever have that much to just spend on a watch

If someone had that much money, they'd be wise to spend it on something that is really worth it.

the point is the majority of people will never have enough money to just go buy a watch for even a couple thousand dollars, let alone $10,000+. Like I said, yes they are some of the most, if not, the most quality watches in the world. but for the common person, we could not see spending that much on a watch.I bought my Dad a $50 dollar watch 5 years ago. it took me so long to save that much money for him. keeps time perfectly and still going strong.
you get what you paid for, but like I said, most people cannot imagine actually paying thousands for a watch

Some people like to spend money on assets rather than saving it, for example my step dad collects (non-depreciating) items e.g. watches and old guns.
If someone had that much money, then it's a wise financial move; inflation?

I never said buying anything that is a shit ton of moneys worth is bad. But if you're wise, you'd make sure to do something smart with your money, rather than buy something just for it's name. I'm not saying it's wrong to buy them.

I'll rephrase what I said, if you have the money then it's 100% worth it, there's not much to lose.
However, let's say compare;
A rolex costs £20k and a normal watch costs £500.
A luxury car costs £400k and a 'normal' car costs £30k.
It's gonna be wiser to buy the normal car even if you have the money imo; the watch won't depreciate but the car will, heavily.

but again, if you have the money. most people when they buy a new car, they expect it to last 10-20 years. the watch may not depreciate, but having a $20,000 dollar watch won't mean crap if you got to live in a box because you cant afford anything else

That's where you are wrong. You made absolutely no sense in this post at all.
And because of this logic, if I had a Cadillac Escalade ESV and offered it to you for $150K, you'd say "I have the money! It's so worth it!". Besides, a GMC Yukon Denali Or Chevrolet Suburban, or Ford Expedition can offer just as much.

It's also my post.
Anyways just fyi, it was an example which you didn't see.
What I said was in terms of watches relating to the title of the post =).
Not cars because they are totally different good.

Maybe you think of me but then again we're communicating through a computer screen so ok.
that was more of a generalization rather than it being directed it at you. the fact is though if your parents wear Rolex and have a Ferrari, you have to admit you have/come from a family who is more well off than others. which is ok, it is not your fault, it is not their fault. but since you do, you are going to view money differently, just as coming from a middle class who would never have the money to spend on a watch like that will think differently.
you said it and I said it. Rolex is top quality when it comes to watches. if you have the money great investment. most people on here will never be able to reasonably afford one though and so it is hard for us to see someone spending $10,000+ on a watch, even though you, coming form a family who has them, sees the other side to it (which I do, even though I will never be able to afford one)
so it really just depends. if you are in a position where you can buy one, whether to wear or investment purposes, you got the best of the best. but for me, I am content with buying a watch which works and does it job at telling time, but something I can afford

i have a Timex which was a gift but guessing it cost about $30 or less. i can't imagine spending thousands of $ on a watch that can't tell time better than my inexpensive one. but to each their own.

They are expensive, but, as it has been said, if you have that much money to spend on a watch, it's not so expensive.
Patek Philippes go even higher on the price list. There's one I really like and the price range was from $300.000 all the way to $350.000 and someone told me "Well that's quite a big difference between the two prices."
But you know, if you're able to spend $300.000 on a watch alone, it means that adding another $50.000 is not such a big problem.
Anyways, yeah, they are expensive, but for instance the most expensive Patek Philippe ($2.6mil) is built out of more than 200 pieces (and we're talking here pieces that are .00something of an inch) and it takes more than 1000 hours to be assembled, since it's all done manually. Expensive, but the craftsmanship is unique and after all, those are a luxury, so only those who are able to afford something like that should buy them...

They look nice, but I don't see the point for spending thousands of dollars on just a watch. It tells time and looks pretty, thats about all.

I think they are very nice watches, but I much prefer Omega. My dad has an Omega Seamaster and it looks great and feels very durable. I also think that the price of an Omega is much more attractive than that of a Rolex.

They're an investment and a status symbol, a rolex watch will rarely depreciate in value and will last a lifetime - personally i think they emit class

I am a bit of a sucker for a high quality time piece, I find them fascinating from an engineering point of view, but yes, Rolex are definitely overpriced, your paying for the name, not the quality

Rolex watches are 100% worth the money, you get a watch that is tested to extremes and comes with great warranties and are good to show off to others.

you better have good warranties when you are paying tens of thousands of dollars for a watch. it better cover everything from Biblical plagues to throwing it across the room in a fit of rage. there are lots of good watches which do not cost anywhere near what it does for a Rolex. a Rolex is more of a status statement than it is about having a functioning watch
