No one answered me properly last time.

I was thinking about getting a wristwatch. What makes/brands/models are good for a guy? Who else has one? What is yours like? Could you post a pic of yours as well if you can?

Thanks!

I'll get this one day as it's passed down through the family.

Omega look pretty good for a guy.

Maybe I answered this before, but I have a Casio that is solar powered and synchronizes to
the WWVB radio station ("atomic clock") So I never have to replace the battery and I never
have to set it when daylight saving time comes and goes. Cost about $100. I hope it lasts a
long time.

Alright dude, this is your lucky day! I've been crazy about watches since my grandfather passed away earlier this year and left me his 1969 Omega Speedmaster Professional. It's a mechanical watch (no batteries, you wind it every day or two to keep it going).

First of all, if you're looking for some really good suggestions, head over to Reddit's /r/watches subreddit (www.reddit.com/r/watches). The people there are super nice and were really helpful when I brought them my grandfathers watch asking what kind it was. Now, you might be intimidated at first by a lot of the posts on there, cause a lot of them tend to be in the "working world" and put up pictures of pretty expensive watches. I'd recommend you ignore all of that, and just check out the "Watches Wiki" on the right side.

So first of all, looking for a "stylish" watch totally depends on what your personal style is! Are you looking for a dressy watch to impress people? Are you looking for an everyday watch that just works as a watch and lets you know what time it is? Are you looking for something in between?

Another big question would be how large is your wrist? A very popular trend in watches right now is a giant face (42mm-45mm), but if you've got a small wrist (pretty much anything <7"), you need to size your watch to it! Though the trend is to be "big", you can still fake people with that if it just looks big for your wrist! The luxury watch brand NOMOS is starting to make smaller watches, and their designs are the perfect balance of amazing watchmaking and casual wear (to be honest though, don't look at buying something from them unless you've got quite a bit saved up...their watches are pretty much all over $1000).

So let's get back to what would be good for you. My BEST recommend would be the Timex Weekender. It's not expensive (maybe $30 or so), and has a really nice classic face that a lot of other watchmakers make (if you've got a bit more money to spend, or your parents can chip in, check out the Hamilton Khaki series, they're freakin awesome and very similar, just much better made!).

As someone leaving HS, the main thing I need to preach is that you shouldn't get something to be showy ("Dude, check this shit out, I bought a Rolex Submariner/Omega Speedmaster Pro!! I'm so cool!!!"), just get something you like. If it tells time reliably and you like the look of it, congratulations, you got a good watch. Just make sure it fits well! Also, just a heads up, a black leather band is good for formal stuff, and a steel bracelet (watch links) or a brown strap are generally more informal!

BTW, I'll throw up a quick album of my 2 current watches on my wrist in a bit if I can (my two are: Bulova 96A 143 [a freakin huge 45mm, the biggest you'll probably see] and Omega Speedmaster Professional Model 144.022 pre-moon). Shoot me a message if they're not up in a day or two!
