Jeremy Clarkson dropped from Top Gear, BBC confirms.
Jeremy Clarksons contract will not be renewed after an "unprovoked physical attack" on a Top Gear producer, the BBC's director general has confirmed.
Tony Hall said he had "not taken this decision lightly" and recognized it would "divide opinion". However, he added "a line has been crossed" and he "cannot condone what has happened on this occasion.

Well fuck you BBC for ruining my favourite show.
This is just unbelievable. Yes he was a jerk but still, fire him? They just made a huge mistake. They're bound to loose allot of viewers.

Yeah it sucks. Top Gear was one of my favorite shows on BBC.
I agree that Jeremy can be a total jerk sometimes. I think what Jeremy did was wrong but, as the reaction article said if it would've been handled internally there would have been other options.

It totally sucks and I'm one disappointed fan as well. But I will make a couple of points.
Despite the popularity of the show and who he is, it doesn't give him the right to go swinging punches at work colleagues. If this happened in a regular workplace, the person would be most likely sacked without hesitation, and the vast majority of people would think it's a reasonable decision. So really, I don't think the BBC had any other option and it's going to hurt them a lot too in lost revenue from the show as it's sold all over the world including here in Australia where I watch it.
But the thing is, that James May and Richard Hammond's contracts are up very soon too and I would suggest that Top Gear (or a similar show with the same three guys perhaps with a new name) will likely pop up on another British tv channel in the near future. They are too popular for nobody to pick them up and James May today has already said that the 3 of them basically come as a package, which suggests this is a good possibility. So all might not be lost yet.

If the average citizen punched someone they'd be sent to prison so I think it's right that Jeremy Clarkson's left.

I loved clarkson too, but being honest it was going to happen sooner or later. This is the person that said all students that were at the London riots should be executed on live tv, I think he knew as well that he was going to get fired sooner or later. I feel sorry for James May (not Hammond though)

this. same thing with the whole Charlie Sheen thing. he violated his contract in a number of ways and just because your popular does not mean you can do whatever

Exactly, he was a tit, and seemed to think he was untouchable. They were right to get rid of him.

He did deserve the same punishment as normal people would receive
Still can't respect BBC considering they covered for a pedophile for decades.
