Into someone different

So, I'm usually into the more outgoing guys. But I've started crushing on this more quiet guy in the play I'm doing. We were actually pretty good friends back in the day (eh okay, I had a crush on him back then too) but we drifted apart after I switched schools. Now he hasn't said a word to me. All he does basically is stare at me. Which is odd, because we were literally close friends.

So, how do I approach this situation?
