Hey, VT!

I've been working on a personal project lately, and something sparked up from mere curiosity (It's vaguely tied to the project...)

I've never met anyone that's been primarily raised, or closely acquainted to anyone with gay parents, or anyone heavily exposed to the manner.

I'm more curious to find out if there's any social stigma which, as a family, they try to hide, or any fundamental differences in family structure. If you're known in your neighborhood or community, are you frowned upon? Viewed or judged for being different, either in a positive or negative manner?

Do you find this level of parenting is any different to one you would've experienced from a "typical" family?

I was not raised by gay parents, but my family's well-acquainted with a very open lesbian couple who have raised a son together (he's 13), they separated and are now both in happy relationships with other women. I live in an area with quite a few gay people, and numerous gay couples, and everyone's very respectful of them. The city that I live in, in general, has high levels of tolerance and acceptance towards the LGBT community.

From what I've seen of previously mentioned son, he's a happy, healthy child who has a good relationship with both of his mothers. He's got friends over regularly, and his mother and her girlfriend are often together and socializing with other people. As far as I'm concerned, they raised him well and have been excellent parents, and they have not been met with (as far as I've noticed) negativity or judgement.

What is the nature of your project? Which way are you biased?
