Good/better ways to get close to a crush?

I've learned over the years just telling someone you like them doesn't work: you have to become sorta close to them. I mean, how often have you ppoured your heart out and have the crush say the same back?

Anyway

How would you recommend me getting closer to my crush? We've known each other for about 12 years, and we've never been close/good friends, but we've never had bad blood between us. She's pretty out of my league if I do say so myself, and actually likes another guy (not sure what's going on there, but I know they aren't together). In class she's caught me looking at her a few times (I don't know how to explain it, but i'm not trying to look at her, my gaze just randomly moves to her when she talks or if someone makes a joke about her.) and she's said "why do you always look at me" sorta loudly haha. I don't know if she thinks I like her, but when we do talk, it doesn't seem like she's trying to be distant.

I'm pretty limited in my ways of contacting people- no phone, slow internet, etc. She recently lost her phone and probably isn't getting it back anytime soon, but she is sometimes on facebook. Rarely do we talk on there though.

Also, I'm not asking just for this girl, but tips for the rest of life in general hahaha. Thanks in advance.

The only way to get close to someone is talking. So, talk to her. A little joke is a good first step, and most of us like funny boys ;) If you're in the same class you can ask her to study with you or to go to the library together for example. Do you have any band in common? Is there something you both like? You have a lot to talk about in those topics.

yeah talking. thats really all it takes. i talked for 5 months though, finally got up the courage and it went pretty well.
