Hi has anyone else been on antidepressants and if so did they affect your ability to ejaculate ? I've been on citalopram ( an antidepressant) for nearly a week and ever since it takes me forever to reach orgasm. I never had a problem before I started taking them, normally masturbation would take 15 mins now it's like 40 -50 mins.

It's one of side effects of citalopram. It can cause your sex drive to slow down I had the same problem when I was on them.

I'm on Valium and Paxil. I have no idea if it does anything though...

The one I was on had a similar effect. I kind of just had no interest in doing it whatsoever.

Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors such as citalopram can have these effects, mostly during the first few weeks you take it. Normally after a while these undesirable effects stop. Don't worry!

german_boy is mostly right, it doesn't always stop, but in some cases, and if you find the right dosage it can/will. Many antidepressants and anti anxiety medications, as well as other prescription drugs, decrease or deplete peoples sex drives. It's very common, and you should tell you doctor that it has decreased your sex drive, because if you're having other side effects you could not be on the right dose.
