Hi guys,

I couldn't find a better place to post this, but I get £100 from my parents every month(ish). Does this mean I'm spoilt? I know it's a lot more than others get, maybe I'm quite lucky both my parents are working and my sister is working also as a doctor, but as a 16 year old I spend the money on actual things I need, e.g. school essentials (fountain pens, revision books), and sometimes Playstation 4 games/DLC packs, which is basically comes second to school.

I wouldn't think I'm spoilt in the way I spend the money, but the amount I get does. This £100 excludes pocket money for food, bus fares, and snacks (I get whenever I need), and train/lunch card transfers. So, thoughts guys? I'm pretty fortunate to be in this position and do not wish to talk down on anyone in a bad economic situation, just looking for an honest opinion.

Cheers guys :)

well depending how much the other expenses you mentioned are, I would say you are more well off than others. though when I think of spoiled people, I think of people who are more ungrateful and don't appreciative of what they do have, the people who always need more. just because you have more doesn't make you spoiled

The 100 euro is not including your expenses? You're not spoilt, but you're privileged.

If you were spoilt, you'd be complaining about not having enough.

I am 17 and work on my family ranch for which I am paid about $1600 a month. Out of that I pay all costs for clothing, school, car (upkeep, insurance), pocket money, etc. I am expected to do my laundry and clean my room and bathroom. And, I pay taxes, give to my church, and support other charitable organizations! And, I have managed to save a good bit of money for college. So while some people would say the amount of money I receive is excessive, or privileged, I say I am being taught responsibility. The Bible says that "to whom much is given, much is expected". If you are a good steward of the money being provided you, you are not spoiled, you are being taught responsibility. In that way, as SethfromMI said, we are privileged.

I guess put at a monthly amount it sounds a lot but thats say £3 a day or so, but it is good to learn to budget and have that responsibility.

I have a credit card that's linked to my dads account. I used it for whatever I need because he isn't around often. I use it for things like gas, food, school supplies, etc.. I don't abuse it because I don't want to lose it lol

The amount of money doesn't make you spoiled. It's how you use it that does.

You might be more well off than others but that's a different story all together
