I tried skiing for the first time yesterday. I had a lot of fun, and I fell a lot, probably 12-15 times.

The next day (today), I noticed that my tailbone is kind of painful, and it's all of a sudden hard to sit down.

Does anyone know why, how I could treat this and how long it'll hurt for?

I'm sorry, I'm not an expert on anything like this but it will most likely heal within a few days. I've heard coccyx injuries can be incredibly painful.

I fell on my tailbone during English Football training in 3rd grade and it hurt like hell. The pain lasted for about three days but it easened off as the time passed.

I'm not all too sure, but the pain should go away. If you are still able to walk and sit down, but of course it hurts, it should be fine, give it a couple of days. If it stays the same, you might want to check it out, but it should be fine, because sometimes I do silly things and hurt myself and it lasts for awhile, but it goes away after some rest. c:

You probably bruised it and it'll go away in about a week or less. If you'd broken it, you wouldn't be able to sit down without a pillow or probably walk. Hurts like a bitch, I know but just sit on soft things for awhile as much as you can and it won't bother you as much.

First time skiing? Yeah, you probably just bruised your coccyx haha! First time I went skiing it felt like I had broken my ass. Don't worry, you wont have broken it - Or at least, if you had broken it, you'd know about it!

From what I remember the pain dies down over the period of about one week, if it lasts massively longer, it would probably be smart to see a physio or a doctor. Painkillers are the way to go whilst you deal with the pain though, after all, "It's only medicine". :p

Hope you enjoyed skiing, don't let this put you off, it's a great sport! :)

Slight change of tone.. I had a tailbone injury that lasted a long while. I ended up going to a chiropractor every month or so for a few years to have him 'reset' it. The pain quickly went from painful to just irritating, stayed like that for maybe 2 years and now is completely fine, as it got better very gradually. It can become 're-activated' if I'm constantly bending up and down, though. Sounds unlikely that this has happened to you, probably only a bruise and it'll be gone soon, but if it goes on I'd recommend a quick visit to the chiropractor to check it out.
