Hi I've been rather depressed for several months and recently been having suicidal thoughts. I want to go to my GP but have been putting off for two weeks now, all I want to know is it worth going?
I've tried dealing with it myself by doing more exercise and trying to cope with music to help, but it's just not working. I've talked to friend's about how I feel but talking only helps for a couple of hours. Not to be rude I don't want to talk about how I feel I just want to know is seeking my GP worth it ? If you have any experience here please share. Thank you

You'll never know if you don't try it. You might as well go, since you have tried every other way of dealing with your depression. If you don't like it then it's back to the drawing board, but as long as you tried it's worth it.

My only experience is that people we have known have had depression.

I would suggest you do get a doctor appointment. It is good you have tried other sources and great you have found some help from friends but yes a GP can help as well.

talking to someone helped me when i was going through my worst time, but what helped more than just psychiatrist, was seeing an art therapist and music therapist. they helped me deal and cope with things that was hard to say just sitting one on one with a psych

twin you are welcome. seriously see about finding a music or art therapist. helped me a lot, but if the depression is a reoccuring thing maybe just start with psychiatrist.
