Eh.....what you said is not really true. It is technically mathematically and GENETICALLY possible for many/most teen guys to have dicks that are above average....

Mathematically you can't derive any of that information from simply viewing an average. Assuming an even distribution no more than half could be above average. Penis size, from what I've read, tends to cluster more around those "average" type numbers. So most AND many guys will be right around average. Not that math, common sense, or reality matters much on VT LOL!

It is possible for most teens to be above average, because you have to remember that averages change. Just as people are getting taller each generation now (generally, obviously not everyone is), there's definitely a possibility that penises are also getting bigger.

Not saying that's true, by the way, just that that would be an explanation to why lots of teens are above this average.

If by "average" you mean the mean then mathematically, yes it is possible to have a mean of a set of samples where most of the samples are above the mean if those that below are well below. For example with the samples:

1,20,21,22,23

the mean in 17 and all but one of the samples are above the mean. The fly in the ointment for penis size is that this kind of skewed distribution does not tend to occur with natural phenomenen. Rather natural variations tend to follow a bell curve and for that reason this bell curve is called the "normal" distribution.

So someone who knows that would take an educated guess that penis sizes are roughly balanced about the mean and that the further one moves away from the mean the fewer people have a penis of that size.

But now you don't have to guess because this report on the same meta analysis (http://metro.co.uk/2015/03/03/finally-the-average-penis-size-revealed-but-is-it-bigger-or-smaller-than-we-thought-5086249/) includes graphs.

The graphs are not sample against quantity but are cumulative graphs but f you measure the amount by which line rises on the y axis between 5% and 50% on the x axis (between the 5th and 50th centile) you will see it is approximately the same as the amount the graph rises between 50% and 95% (between the 50th and 95th centile). This shows the distribution is balanced.

So now we come to how guys on here seem to be at odds with a meta analysis of a set of serious scientific studies. Penises don't really shrink with age so it isn't a case of being young and in better shape than the population as a whole. There was a small correlation between penis length and height so, as younger generations tend to be taller than older ones, there may be some effect there but I can't see that it would be enough to account for the number who would, by the figures in this study, be in the biggest 1% of the population.

That only leaves choosing a measurement method that flatters the measurer rather than the standard one or simply exaggerating the answer. I am not saying all the sizes posted here are false, but clearly they can't all be true.

Now, in "Puberty for All" someone posted this link to a buzzfeed survey (http://www.buzzfeed.com/peggy/the-authentic-womens-penis-size-preference-chart) which claims to show how penis size related to female pleasure. If we look first at girth the women's pleasure chart says the thinnest girth that is pleasurable is 4.75" which corresponds to 12cm. Looking at the graph of the meta analysis this corresponds to 60%, i.e. 60% of men have a penis of that girth or less so that seems to say only 40% of guys would cause a women to have pleasure by girth alone. Doing the other categories: satisfying 5% of men, very satisfying 1% of men. Looking at length just about the whole of the "pleasure" zone is off to the right of the average length, enjoyable: 60% of men, satisfying 35% of men, very satisfying but not ideal 10% of men, ideal 1% of men.

Suffice to say I think the penis debate chart on pleasure is hogwash.

This study is brand new. BRAND NEW! We aren't looking at charts from the 1600s LMAO And ya know what, if everyones dicks just got bit bigger then they wouldn't be above average.... they'd be clustered around the new average.

Whoever said below guys probably use measurement methods that favor larger readings is probably correct. PLUS I would imagine many of the guys responding are ones comfortable with their penis size or someway "happy" to share it.

If the average length is 5.16 inches, then I don't believe all these guys that say they have 7 inches. Because, that means in order for that to be the average, there are just as many guys that would have 3 inch boners. There cannot be that many guys out there with 3 inch boners, can there? (after puberty is done of course, I'm talkin)

I do semi agree with this, because yes it is showen through history that people are getting taller, and it's knowen that people in Ancient Greek had much smaller penis's. But that's over 2000 years, these averages were created in the last decade. Though, another idea is that the hormones in food are effecting the growth of people, girls are getting their period earlier and breasts earlier ect ect. But I do also belive that teen guys as an inch or two when measuring often enough :P though because the average is around 5 inches, doesn't make it impossible to have a 8 inch penis, just rare

Lol, i just still say its based on genetics. You get your genes from youe dad and chances are you will have a dick that is at least as big as your dad's dick or longer than your dad's dick. Also, apparently brothers/siblings fit into this somehow....but leta not get into that lol

I agree that people should stop fretting about the size of your junk, since you can't really change it, and your probably around average anyway. But however you need to read a whole post! You don't get all of your genes from your dad! Though I do think that penis size has something to do with genes, if your dad has a smaller penis, yet one of your grandparents have a large penis. Then their is just as much chance that you will have a large penis...

I mentioned a distrubution in my earlier post. There are many possible distrubutions that will give a certain average. All the measurments can be clustered closely together or they can be much more spread out. Distributions can also be balanced, where there are approximately the same number of measurements above the mean as below it, or unbalanced where more samples fall one side of the mean than the other. For an unbalanced distribution that means those measurements on the side of the mean that has fewer measurments must be further from the mean that on the side with more measurements. I gave an example of this in my earlier post.

We know from the graphs from the latest analsysis that the distribution of penis size is a balanced distribition and, though I am not sufficiently practiced to tell this from the cumulative graphs, there is a good chance it is a normal distribution - look up this term if you want to see what these look like.

So, when I say it is impossible for the majority of the people on here to have above average penises I mean exactly that. I don't mean that all penises have to be average and I don't know who is reporting accurate measurements and who is not but I know that, in aggregate, a large number of above average penises is not consistent with the graph from the analysis.

As for genetics, for the vast majority of charactereistic you inherit one gene from your father and one from your mother so how that characteristic ends up can be like you mum, like you dad or any combination of the two and even that is a slight simplifaction. There are no genes you inherit only from your dad, there are some that you inherit only from you mum as the Y chromosone is shorted than the X, i.e. is has some genes missing.

It is natural to assume guy-only characteristics are carried on the Y chromosone that girls don't have, having a second X chromosone instead, but this is incorrect. Male-only characteristics are simply carried by females but not expressed. In the case of genes determining penis size those same genes in a girl probably determine clit size as these two develop from the same embyonic tissue with what the tissue develops into controlled by hormones.

exactly! So many guys are caught up on that their mother could not determine certain factors of their development as males, like chest & facial hair, or penis size. It is quite a strange idea to think that your mothers genes could decide the size of your penis, not your dads :p
