Hi all. I have a problem with work. I am sixteen and all I do is study, build custom PC's (working on my new rig now), study and work on my networking equipment and my home network (Cisco switches, routers, and a few dell power edge linux servers), read and work on java programming and help the robotics team with their code, design and build my 3D printers (three so far), and do electronics (going to college for electrical engineering soon). The problem is those are all of my passions. I love them all so much that is what I spend every waking moment doing. I work on all of those activities and topics every day, study them, learn more, learn more. I just don't know when it is ok to play and have fun. I feel like it is a waste of my time. I could be doing better things. For example, I want to make a minecraft server with a friend and try to get a good amount of players, but I feel like doing so would be a waste of my time? Am I too anal about my work?

I wouldn't say that. I just think you do what you feel is important. It is probably due to the consequences of what you do. Taking time off to play might be fun, but it would cost work time. Working might seem hectic and you feel you might need a break, however if you take a break that is time wasted. Seems to me, the only thing in this situation that can't be saved is borrowed time.

Take it slowly, have like an hour a day to do something non work or school related. I don't know your full schedule or situation but maybe take up a sport or learn a second language. Find youth groups in your area or school. Best of luck. :)

I was just confused by the title "work" but I guess you meant hobby and passion the electrical and computer stuff. So it is not work in the sense you are employed or getting paid etc.

For sure hobbies and passions can maybe take over from real life a bit maybe that is what you feel but if you enjoy them and gain from them well why not.

But life is maybe best with a balance of things it really is up to you how you do that or want it to be.
