Well, it doesn't sound like there's any hard feelings, so hopefully if you decide you don't want to pursue a relationship with each other you can still be friends.
It sounds like you two are really close friends and I think going through a rough patch like this one will make your bond even stronger. Or, you could end up dating each other, and that could be wonderful too. I think you both care about each other enough to not really have any problem come out of this, so don't worry too hard. I know you can't help it, but I believe it will be fine.

I think you have the right idea here except for the part in the OP's post where it says they're cousins. Not sure how legal/immoral that's considered wherever the OP is.

I missed that part. You're definitely right, I don't think it's really a good idea to pursue a relationship with someone you're related to.

^^^This, essentially. I know that sometimes you have to get your feelings/tensions out, but I don't think that dating one's cousin is the best of ideas. As for sexuality, anyone, regardless of religion, can be proudly homo/bi/a/whatever-else sexual.
