I don't know which career I would want to pursue. Trauma Surgeon OR Anesthesiologist?

Which one would you choose and why? I need help...

it depends what you want to do. do you want to be more active in doing actual surgeries or do you want to do more of the prep, make sure whatever you use to have them go to sleep will not kill them? Anesthesiologists definitely have to know their craft just as well as surgeons, it is not as simple as simply giving someone a certain gas.

so the question is which one appeals to you more

Like SethfromMI said, it depends. Do what you want to do and what you enjoy. I don't have enough knowledge to be able to say this is absolutely true; but in my view a trauma surgeon would need more hands-on skills than an anesthesiologist. Work out where your skill set fits best, other than that I don't know how else to help sorry :/ I know you'll be able to figure out something:)

kinda putting the cart before the horse, right? some sort of pre-med track would be required either way. do you get good grades now?

That is but the career you pursue is dependent on getting into med school for a start so concentrate on that to begin with and then you can decide. Both do require study and extensive training.

Well why do you want to go into doctoring and why specifically a Trauma Surgeon OR Anesthesiologist? I want to go into medicine too b/c I love bio and want to use my science skills to help people out, but there are so many different types of jobs to choose from. I hate chemistry so id go with trauma surgeon if it was between those 2, plus they have a cool job. I think it would be easier and more rewarding to be a T.S. + your'e actually working on people, anesthesiologist just chose the right drugs and calculate how much you need. They make more money but still: pretty boring job, and in today's world you cant make a lot of money in medicine anyway.
