Apparently, circumsised men do not have less penile sensitivity than uncircumsised men -- http://blogs.webmd.com/mens-health-office/2007/07/foreskin-facts-turtleneck-or-no-it-all.html

Things get "official" in the media whenever a new study comes out. Even if it contradicts nine other studies, and is a worse study, it becomes the new de facto standard.

Anyway, unlike the WebMD guy, I actually read the abstract and did a few minutes of research. I'm surprised he didn't.

This study is slightly smaller than previous ones that have found the opposite. It also tested only the glans, not the foreskin, which has nerve endings which can obviously respond too.

So...in other words, this study isn't conclusive, but it's new information. Or it was, like a year ago when it came out - three months after a virtually identical one that showed a 40%ish difference. Go figure.

From the study abstract:

"This just scratched the surface, and there is so much more to look at," she said.

I pretty much agree.

But more than anything I wish people would stop with this crap. I think it probably makes a 10-20% difference. Repeated exposure/rubbing of any skin will. When an uncut guy is more sensitive than he likes, how do we tell him to treat it? Exposure. Yeah. Exposure reduces sensitivity.

Does that reduce sexual enjoyment? I doubt it.

There are much, much better arguments against circumcision than "it makes sex less fun!"

I agree, I read the study after posting this and noticed your points. It really doesnt matter, I dont give a fuck, an orgasm is an orgasm, and I like it when it take me a long time to reach climax. I just dont see what the big fucking deal is, lol

As much as I'm against infant circumcision, I pretty much agree. The higher relative sensitivity, to whatever extent it exists, is pretty minor to me. There are things I'd miss more than that.

Just kind of a random, indirectly related factoid:

Sensitivity doesn't have much to do with ejaculation time unless you're really desensitized. Premature ejaculation is actually a psychological disorder, relating mostly to anxiety and conditioning. Even if there is 50% less sensitivity (and I'd imagine there isn't), it would be unlikely to cause retarded ejaculation - just as increased sensitivity would be unlikely to cause premature ejaculation. Even studies that found a sensitivity difference found statistically insignificant differences in ejaculation time.

thanks for the thought, i dont really listen to all the studies that come out, becasue according to studies, almost everything give you cancer, drinking coke zero, watching too much TV, being on the computer to much, everything has been proven to give you cancer

Haha.

I don't want to advocate totally ignoring medical studies, but there are oftentimes so many variables and questions about how they're conducted. It's best to do a meta-analysis (look at all of the studies, compare them, etc.) than just accept the latest one. Latest does not necessarily mean best.

If two studies are conducted identically and get the opposite results, the media reports the latest one. The next time a study comes out showing the opposite from this, it will suddenly become the "new truth." Which is bullshit, and why I always go to Google when I see a new study proving something contradicting other ones.

is this article really serious? This person sounds obsessed with his penis being as good as another man's. Just read it and you will see

As a urologist, I know in my heart that millions of other men also spend hours each day thinking about this timeless problem. But now we finally have an answer. We can all put this behind us and get on with our lives.

oh my god, we found whether god was real or not!! jesus christ (is real)!!
seriously, who spends hours a day wondering if their penis is as sensitive as someone else's. hours?? cmon...
and it doesn't matter what this study says. it doesn't really matter to me.
