Speedos or Swim shorts when going swimming

I think that this isn't puberty related , this is more for fashion thread . But , anyway , I prefer swimming shorts . Speedos are totally retro , and plus I wouldn't feel comfortable , just imagine having erection while wearing speedos xD . I don't know anyone who use them , even my 78 yrs old grandpa wears swimming shorts xD .. I think that only proffesional swimmers use them .

Well I would use swim shorts all the time, I guess because that's the style. Most guys wearing speedos are competitive swimmers.

In UK can you get brief style swimsuits intended for recreational swimming? In the
U.S. it seems the only thing like that are Speedos or other brands that are made
for competitive swimming and sold only in sporting goods stores. I know in the
past there were some designed for recreational swimming and sold in department
stores, but not any more.

Totally depends on the activity.

If it is for lap swimming I wear a speedo or a jammer.
If it is for tanning I wear a speedo.
If it is for swimming in my backyard pool I wear a speedo.
If I'm hanging out with friends or at the beach I wear speedo under trunks.

I won't wear a speedo and flaunt myself in front of people, that isn't necessary. But I will wear one anytime I choose, which is most of the time when I'm in the water. I'm young, thin, and not hairy (and I manscape anything that might show). When I get older I doubt I'll look any better than I look right now so I might as well enjoy wearing a speedo now. Showoffs aren't the only guys who wear speedos. They are decent swimwear. Ask any swimmer or water polo player out there.

All it takes to wear a speedo is a bit of confidence. It isn't really a big deal. Most guys understand this once they wear one for the first time. A speedo rookie typically believes that everyone is going to be looking at them when actually the vast majority of people don't care and aren't paying attention.
