Well first of all, if you're really close with this friend, I wouldn't think too much of it. I mean, it shows a lot about how well you know each other that he was comfortable being completely naked for such a long time with you without being embarrassed. Some families are more open to that sort of thing, like I wouldn't be surprised if they felt free to walk around naked often in their house. If I was in that situation, I may have gotten naked also, just so it was less weird and lopsided, and maybe even experimented a bit. It's completely normal to not feel very comfortable being naked around other people, I have to admit, that was quite strange of them to do, I probably wouldn't have done thought or had enough courage to do that, so you're definitely not the only one. And I would start by simply getting more comfortable with your body, play with yourself maybe, just get used to your naked body. Then maybe start like doing homework or whatever in your room naked. You can also just take it slow and maybe start out in boxers, and when you're comfortable with that, slowly transition into being naked. And don't worry about getting a boner around others when you're naked, I get that all the time, and as long as you don't mention it or make it awkward, just keep your cool, it'll be fine. But yeah, I wouldn't worry about it, unless you're hoping to become a naturist/nudist. Don't worry. :)

I really thought about stripping naked, too, but I was too scared because I had a boner. I´m also shy of being seen naked by mom and dad. well honestly almost every guy, if not every guy, will get a boner at some point in the shower. if they make a big deal about it, turn the tables on them and ask why are they so interested. no reason to have to rush through your shower for fear of what others may think

As a purely practical matter it seems useful if one is comfortable enough not to have worry about covering up in such areas as locker and changing rooms, communal showers etc.

Not everyone needs to behave like a nudist and walk around naked in his own home even to the point of doing so when guests are present. While there is nothing wrong with doing that, assuming the guests aren't made to feel awkward, there is equally nothing wrong with the more usual approach of keeping your clothes on when in company.
