I have never done it, but I guess that if there is a good reason for him to do it, it is okay...everyone is different and have their own problems and situations, so there probably is a reason for it.

I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I've never done so, and it sounds really uncomfortable. But I don't think it's bad, as far as my underwear knowledge goes.

this is often why. and when people find out they got briefs under the boxers, often times they are teased even more than if they would have just worn their briefs in the first place. there is no point in having two pairs of underwear on. I don't like boxers anyways and I do not care if someone sees me in a pair of briefs

That's my guess at an explanation too. Guys like briefs for the support or for
hiding erections, but it's only cool to be seen wearing boxers.

A lot of people I know used to do it. I used to do it briefly as well until I felt very hot, so I get rid of the briefs, then just went with boxer-briefs to compromise.

Of it isn't wrong but it may be uncomfortable and it does create extra laundry.

If the issue is that what you find comfortable is not fashionable then go for comfort. My take on underwear fashion is the same on having a hairstyle for your public hair - taking something much further than it needs to go. Yes, by all means choose external clothes for style and style the hair that people can see why your are dressed but when it comes to underwear they are functional rather than decorative.
