Why do guys get morning wood? Is it because we have to pee? Is it hormones? Aliens from space? Do these damn things go away in a few years? What's up with morning wood?

I think it's something like all the blood rushes down there when we wake up and we get hard and no it won't go away.

cookiemonstermatt no it won't go away. Ever. Unless you get older and develop erectile dysfunction or something like that. And usually it's because of hormones and sometimes dreams that you don't remember because they happened too early in the sleep cycle. Those dreams can cause a whole bunch of emotions and hormones to stick around until morning.

From my understanding of the body, this is your body's way of keeping you from peeing in your sleep. When we were younger, few of us would wake up with an erection in the morning. But almost everyone has wet the bed multiple times. We have muscles that during an erection, keep urine from being excreted when we ejaculate because urine has a PH level that would kill sperm. At least that is what I have been told and that makes the most sense though hormones are also a major factor I am sure.

Maybe that's it.

There's two explanations:
1) When the body does its morning wake-up checkup, it makes sure that you are still able to get an erection.
2) Hormones on top of hormones...on top of hormones XD

Well at night there's sort of a system repair in our body... Our dick gets a system repair by getting erect...that is morning wood

Morning wood is important, it sort cleanses the inside of your penis.

i think it is a hangover from sleep. It is normal to get erections during the night during one part of the sleep cycle and I think morning wood is related to that.

My morning wood goes away after going to the bathroom. I doubt it will go away because of how it happens.

When we wake up, our bodies know they have to be prepared for normal activities, so our blood pressure increases what causes morning woods ;)

Its just hormones during your sleep. They dont go away but they become less severe as you age.
