Absolutely not.

It allows you to see the greatest in the sport play against and with each other. They aren't usually an actual competition, but more of a time to show off and play for the fans.

Thats what it used to be, now its just a really expensive pick up game.

In the NHL and NBA they could canceled the all star game and have 2 more regular season game in the NFL they could stop doing the pro bowl and have 1 more round of playoffs. In the MLB I guess they need one to decide who have home advantage in the world series because I guess giving it to the team with the best record doesnt work.

Some can say it's completely useless while others love it. Personally though I actually liked the AllStar game, I actually enjoyed watching it and plus they raised 18k+ for Ronald McDonald Charity. Personally though they should have this in the summer because after the Hockey Season ends there's a bit of a gap where there's no hockey at all, I understand this is a winter event sort of sport but some might actually go see a hockey game in the summer. Either way I think having it in the summer would actually be quite good, it would get people pumped for next season of hockey! It's not really a waste but really it's something that shouldn't be hosted in the middle of the NHL season. Either way I enjoyed it though!

At the major league (or highest level) - most allstar games are useless as far as the games go. It's true that the fans get to see a lot of the great players in one game, but aside from baseball - (as a whole) the players don't even half try to win the game or even give a shit about playing in it. They have nothing to gain. I can understand minor league players trying to impress in order to get called up, but other than the MLB baseball game...which actually has something on the line (playoff advantage for the respective league) - it's just all crap.
