I might get an iphone for my birthday. I never had an iphone before but i want one. I have an android now and it's ok. But iphones look nice and everyone I know that has one likes theirs. What do y'all think of yours if you have one?

I'll probably get attacked for this, but.. I love my iPhone (5c). I'm not very tech-y, I don't need lots of crazy special features and I don't care too much about speed or storage or anything as long as it isn't an obvious hindrance. It seems to run well and to me iOS is comfortable and easy to use. I got an iPod touch for my 11th birthday and had it until I got my phone last March. It's what I'm used to. Maybe if I'd had an Android all this time I would have liked that better, but I didn't. I think it's worth it, but in the end it's up to you.

This^ - in a nutshell. (and I don't usually respond like that lol)
I used to have an android phone that was not powerful enough to run apps that I wanted to use. When given the opportunity to switch over to iPhone, I did and have been nothing but happy since. A major complaint that I hear about iPhones is one of the things I actually like - that all of them are pretty much the same. After my experiences with android having different levels of power and capability, I like the fact that anything I can do on one iPhone i can pretty much do on all of them. I do like having memory for having music and apps, but you can get that now with pretty much any phone. Like Hannah, I really couldn't give two shits about tech stuff. I don't care if a phone that's not an iPhone can run apps one-tenth of a second faster than my phone. I like my phone because it's easy to use, uniform, and I am comfortable with it.

It 's all a matter of what do you want your phone for.
Android is the OS you can customize to bits. It works flawlessly when you know how to use it and you can always have whatever you please, while for me, Android doesn't give you such a high "productivity" or seems as intuitive as iOS.
I feel Apple makes their products very very well. While you can't customize iOS as much (note: speaking about out of the box devices, no rooting/jailbreaking) you get much better productivity, stability and design.
Would I buy the former or the latter? I use an android and I'm very happy with it. Would I prefer an iOS? Absolutely. Would I buy it? At the current prices, no.
For the record, I'm using Android 4.4 to play music and Apple EarPods to direct it to my ears. Not biased at all.

I have gone through a handful of different types of phones but an iPhone is personally what works for me. I'm also a Mac-user so it just happens to be a lot more interface-friendly with my computer than my old phones were. I'm used to Apple products, I am a fan of their customer service when I need it, and it does what I need it to. I'm not going to get into some argument over speed, OS, and storage because honestly, if the phone does what you want it to, then that's how you make your decision.
If you're not impressed with your Android (I have an Android tablet and it's okay but it's not my favourite OS ever) then try out an iPhone if you can afford it. On the bright side, if you don't like it, you can probably sell it later for a decent penny.

Love my iPhone 6, everything is seamless and it just works well.
Pretty big difference moving from an iPhone 3GS.

I lime both Android and iOS, but I just prefer Apple's mobile products to those that run Android. I have an iPhone 5S, and whole running emulators etc. is irritating, for the most part, it's a solid phone.

I've had both android and iphone. I prefer the iphone because the GUI is much more appealing, easier to use and much more fun to use. But! For me to enjoy using a iphone it has to be jailbroken, I just ugh cant use it without having all the extra features

A word of advice (not necessarily to the poster I'm quoting since if you've done it already, not much you can do now) but if you get an iPhone and jailbreak it, you are voiding your warranty entirely, which means any Apple Care you have additionally purchased is now useless. Apple will not cover any repairs or support on a jailbroken device and you are essentially wasting your money since half the cost of Apple products is for their warranty and protection.

You can always set it back to stock and take it in for warranty repair or replacement. I took my iPhone 5 in while still jailbroken and they gave me a new phone on the spot. But it was a physical issue, not a software issue.
That aside, I was the same way. I didn't want the new iPhone because I didn't want to lose my jailbreak. So I switched to android and have loved it so far.

You know evais0n give you that warning right? And don't be daft, there's loads that you can do. You just wipe your phone and update it to the latest ios, so theres plenty that you can do and you're not "essentially wasting your money". Who in the right mind purchases additional apple care anyway?

Um, I do because the extra warranties on both my phone and my laptop have served me incredibly well in the past during unforeseen circumstances.
Still, it does void your warranty and a lot of people ignore that, don't wipe their phone because they don't want to lose the jailbreak, then complain about Apple when they're the ones who did it to their phone and they don't get the service they want.

Sorry but if you do a wipe on your phone, they're never going to know. And if people complain to Apple when they don't help them, tbh it's their own fault.

My point was just if you're going to jailbreak it, know the risks.

From a mostly broken flip phone to iPhone 5s, is like a dream come true. Get Touch ID, and you'll never go back. But get a big storage size because you'll probably download every new and amazing app Apple has and fill it up pretty quick...

I used to use both iOS (on my iPod before it was stolen), and Android, and I personally like iOS more. It might not be as customizable, but it seems less cluttered than my Android phone's setup.

I stick with Apple on the mp3/cell phone front mostly out of familiarity. My refurbished 4 (my first and only iPhone) is at the end of its life cycle and the plan is to get a 5s here soon along with my dad who's upgrading from the 5 to a 6. My power button is totally broken, my computer a quarter of the time won't recognize it, I have stopped being able to receive texts from iPhones, etc. I'm shocked it lasted this long though; it's about three or four years old I'd say and I've dropped it dozens of times from 3-4 foot heights. It's held-up well; I'm afraid to get the new one though with how much of a clutz I am.
