I really want to grow a beard but my facial hair won't fill in. I have a good amount of upper lip and a little chin hair but I shave it because it just looks weird without the rest of it. I also have a tiny amount of sideburn hair. I was wondering for those who can grow a beard, how long did it take for it to fill in?

Keep shaving. It comes back thicker.

Everyone's different, so there's no really way of knowing when it will begin to fill in. Mine's beginning to fill in now (just a little), and I'm 16, but there are some 18/19 year olds who can't grow beards, and some 15/16 year olds who can; but there's no real way of speeding it up, you just have to wait, and hope!

Your beard will get better as you get older.

I'm a peach fuzz man myself. :P

It is different for each guy. Some guys can grow beards younger some can't. Work with what you have and your facial hair will come eventually. If you do grow your facial hair out, the beard might come out patched or uneven. That is normal, just shave it and let the hair grow back evenly.

I've got a friend in his early 20s who still only needs to shave once a fortnight. Even then the only place it really grows is his top lip, and a few stragglers on his chin.

Got another friend who's in his mid 30s, he didn't shave during Movember (is that just a UK thing?), after a month his beard was still really patchy and looked awfull! He was glad to shave it off.

Some guys are naturally hairy, others aren't. And at 14 it's probably too early to tell which you're going to be. Think you're going to have to wait and see on this one!

Same here.

I'm 16 and have to shave every other day because my top lip, chin and side burns look stupid :D

I will be 16 in 2 months and mine fills in barely yet.
So far I would not dare to try growing a beard because it would look funny ;)
