Later this morning I'm continuing in part 2 of an at least 4 part recruitment process for a job I'm applying for within the same organisation I work in now. This part is very important to get through, because if I don't, I can't apply for any job within the organisation for another year. I'm a bit anxious, but will hopefully be ok. Fingers crossed I can post some good news about this later. :)

Well, for anyone who cares, I got through the testing and will get the results next week. Fingers crossed I did good enough!

Best wishes mate.

Thanks heaps for posting. It's appreciated :)

So I got an email a while ago telling me I've gotten through to the next stage. Since so many of the applicants have made the next stage, they have inserted an extra task which is another online test. I'll find out more about it tomorrow and have until Sunday to complete it. Hopefully I'll do ok. Wish me luck!

Hey good luck. I have my (final, no pressure) interview in about an hour. Let's hope we both get this. :)

Well let me know what happens Jo. I have confidence for you!

So I just did the online test for the next part. I'm annoyed by the fact that it was nothing like the practice questions I had done over the last couple of days having researched the type of testing it was. It started off relatively easy and then got much harder. I have no idea what the benchmark is, so I can only sit and wait. They said I should get a response within 24hrs of doing the test of whether I have made the next stage. So we'll see what happens I guess. I'm very confident with the easier questions, lets say the first half of the test, but I buggered up the back half royally. Fingers crossed!

Best of luck to you all with your jobs! I hope everything works out.

I've been waiting for my 'replacement' to apply and get hired since like.. May so that I can move to another position within the company I currently work for.. and finally he's having his orientation on Sunday, so I'm going to be moving soon. It's what they call a parallel move, which basically means since I'm part time and they're basically aware of what I can and can't do, I can slide right over without the application process, which is nice.

Thankyou all for your supportive posts. So it's just gone 24hrs since I did the online test I spoke of a couple of posts back. The significance of this being that if you were successful for the next part, you were supposed to find out within 24hrs, so it seems I've been culled (barring a delay, but I think that's wishful thinking). It's good news I got through the 'idiot stage' as I call it, because I can apply for other jobs now. But I'm rather bummed about this because I thought I would really be good at this job. For those of you who know me, you would understand how significant that is because I rarely say I'm good at anything. The reality is that there are only 5 jobs with hundreds applying for them, so it was a long shot to start with. But I'm still bummed about it. Anyways, I'm glad I kept it all quiet from rl people, so nobody knows I even went for the job to start with. Thanks for those of you who left supportive posts here, I really appreciate it.

And Val, I wish that sort of thing happened where I work. Rather than jumping through a lot of politically correct hoops, they would be able to see how good I would be at the job rather through less related testing like there has been for me. I hope all works out well for you with the transition. :)

So I guess that I should provide an update to my situation. My replacement finally got hired and started and whatnot, and the last day of his training is Saturday night with me. Starting the week of the 15th, I have my first day in the kitchen cooking, on that Tuesday (the 17th i think?) I don't know where I'll start, possibly fry station which is pretty cook to learn, but I'd be happy with either of the stations (grill and salads are the others). But finally, after 9 months I'm able to go somewhere and it's so exciting. I have an existing (mostly good) relationship with most of the cook staff and I'm familiar with the menu so I have an upper hand sort of to begin with. Regardless, it's still super exciting. The nerves are so there though and a week from today I'll be getting ready to cook the following day for the first time. eep.
