Yes, losing interest after you have finsihed cumming is normal.

What I did, given I just wanted to see what it tasted like, was to catch the first few spurts in my left hand then quickly lick it while I was still cumming and stroking with my right.

Obviously you can also taste it without trying if you are lying on your back and cum really hard such that it lands in your mouth. Some people try to increase the chance of it going in with a contortion where you walk your feet up the wall so your penis is pointed downwards at your mouth but I have not tried it and can't recommend it as you risk your back.
