View Full Version : Random-ish vomiting

So for the past week or so I've been randomly throwing up. Although it does seem to happen more at night when I'm in bed (both sitting and laying down).
And it's so weird to me because it just comes out of nowhere and I don't have any symptoms of a disease. I also don't feel nauseous at all before it happens, but I become extremely nauseous afterwards.
Any idea what this is or what's causing it?
P.S. I know you guys aren't doctors, but I just wanna know your guys' thoughts on this or if you've ever heard of something like this.

Are you on any medication? Have you eaten something different? Has your diet changed? Have you started doing a lot of physical activity? Does this happen at only your bed, and does it only happen at night?
Can't say I've heard of this, just troubleshooting.

I've never really experienced that, aside from being sick, or eating something bad, so I'm not really sure what could be causing in.
I would say your best bet is to talk to your parents and go see your doctor just to be safe.

Not on any meds, haven't eaten anything out of the ordinary, same level of physical activity as before, and it's happened throughout my house and while outside, and also has happened at different times during the day and night (but seems to happen more around night time).
EDIT: I've started taking Tums throughout the day since this started being a regular thing, but I don't take more than the maximum.

Hmm I've got absolutely no idea what this is. Do you feel really really anxious just before you vomit? It might be because of some sort of emotional/mental distress. You don't have any headaches or pains? I think you should go get checked up just in case of any serious underlying causes.

The only symptoms I have is a slightly runny nose for a bit after it happens. No anxiety or headache.

Just read that you've been taking tums, I'm assuming that's some sort of medication? How long have you been taking it for? If you've only just started then maybe you're reacting to the tums. Or the other thing I'm thinking is that you maybe could have eaten too much of something. Or you might be having a reaction to an allergy. I don't know sorry I'm running out of ideas :/ As I said I think you should check with your doctor~~

I highly doubt it's the tums because they're designed to help with upset stomachs.

Oh sorry - I didn't know that. I suggest asking your doctor or telling a family member (if they don't already know)

I would recommend seeing a doctor. I really cannot pinpoint what you may have

I hate to ask, but what is in the vomit.
Also, are you stressed for any reason, exams, or has something bad happened recently

Just thought I'd put an update out on here:
So I went to the doctor yesterday and he gave me some medicine for stress :-/ I don't really see how it'll help since I don't feel stressed. He did explain that I could be so stressed out that I don't notice it or something. Like where it's become normal so I don't recognise it as being bad (I think?).
I'll take the medicine and see if it works for now.

Sometimes stress doesn't present in a way that you feel emotionally. If I'm stressed, I often get an upset stomach even though I could be feeling otherwise fine. But it's almost like clockwork before school starts -- constant upset stomach, no matter how calm I feel about the whole thing. So your doctor may be right.
Along with the meds, try seeing if there are any stressors in your life that you didn't think much of before but try seeing if eliminating them or finding better ways to deal with them also helps. Just little things like "does this make me worry" or "does this make me feel pressured". You may just think that's normal (and to some degree it is) but finding alternate ways of going about these things can often help. You just need to find a way of being aware of your stress level, if that's the case.
