I think it is important to distinguish between "common", "normal" and "right".

My understanding is that while most guys taste their cum at least once few eat/drink it regularly so in that respect cum eating isn't that common.

On the other hand some guys do eat their cum. It does not cause them any distress or health issues and it doesn't correlate with anything else pathological so in that sense it is normal.

As for whether it is right or wrong the test I'd use is how it affects other people. For me if a sexual activity you engage in is not causing distress to other people, either because you force them to witness it or engage in it with you without consent, or because you leave them a nasty mess to deal with or damage their things, then it is fine to do. If you are religious your religion may have further rules and only you can decide how much heed to pay to them. In that respect I can't see how eating your cum could be considered wrong.
