Well met, fellow nerds.

This is a thread where we discuss ANYTHING you guys want about Skyrim, from what your favorite race is, to questions about the lore. Here, you can seek advice about that pain-in-the-ass quest, or how to find that Word Wall. And if you are a veteran, you can just throw out advice, info and facts, 'cause why the hell not?

We tolerate "passionate disagreements", just dont swear TOO much, please.

Ok, I'm finaly done with all the damn formalities, so...

CHEESE AND SWEETROLLS FOR EVERYOOOOONE!!!!

Well then. FIRST! But seriously...

When picking a race, if you don't know exactly how you want to play the game, choose a Khajiit. Their stats are all just about equal, allowing you to go along any path you want.

If you have the Hearthfire DLC installed, DO NOT put other DLC armor on the mannequins. Bad things happen. Like duplication, the mannequins GETTING UP AND WALKING AWAY, among other things...

Also, watch for stray items on the roads. These can be deadly...

AYYY! Love me some Skyrim.
After many hours of searching for and installing a final list of mods, I can finally get down to actually playing it. Only problem is that in very crowded areas I only get 15fps. Time for a new CPU, methinks! :P

Hrm. I wonder if my HD 4600 will be able to run it at minimum. My other computer could do skyrim, windowed, 800x600, minimum, at only 10fps :(

If the first character you choose is a khajit, you're probably a furry :P

I, myself, prefer argonians, but I don't think they're good for beginners.

Naw. I spent a bit too much time looking at stats... Khajiit is probably the best for beginners...
If you want, I could make a list of all of the classes and what they are good for...

That would be awesome, accually. Please do it, if you get the time.

I'm not good with mods, but I think you'll be fine. My laptop is way worse.

So, after a lot of research, I give you this:
THE RACES OF SKYRIM
(and their roles according to how I interperate the stats.)
DISCLAIMER: This is how I see the races, so it might be different from how you see them.

Nords: Strong, hardy, brave. Probably best used with light or heavy armor and 2 handed weapons. Their fighting skills are rather high compared to the rest, so they would be best for the warrior within.

Elves: I wouldn't put them all under one category :P. But I am doing this to stay a little organized...

High Elf: Their stats practically make them perfect for mages. They have a magicka boost early on, and their magic stats are higer.
Wood Elf: Better suited as an archer. Archery and Sneak are higher than most early on.
Dark Elf: Dark mages would suit them. Their Destruction and Illusion stats are rather high.
Orc: First off, yes Orcs are Elves. They are classified under Orsimer, mer meaning elf... Anyway, these guys are tanks. If you want to go toe to toe with a giant, and orc is the best bet. Heavy armor and 2 handed stats are high early on.

Redguards: Not as strong as a Nord. Light armor, one-handed weapons. Perfect for an adventurer.

Imperials: Really just another adventuring class. Their special ability, however, allows you to find more gold in chests and what not...

Breton: More of a mage, but not as good as High Elves. Their stats are right under High Elves for magic and stuff...

Khajiit: They start off with stats that are all pretty well levelled, making them better for beginners, or those who can't find another race that suits their needs. Sure, their Stealth stats are higher than the rest of the races, but they can do litterally ANYTHING.

Anyway, I hope that someone likes this list...

10 FPS, that would be like Hardcore Mode on Skyrim, I'm surprised it can be played at such a low frame rate. Even PS3 and Xbox could manage 30 FPS but was prone to drops every now and then.

Google the dev code to reopen the race menu at any time to change race, gender, appearance etc.

I played Bosmer in Morrowind, Bosmer in Oblivion, and Bosmer 75% of the time in Skyrim. I just love bows and elves too much.

I think I've finally stopped playing for "good" though. But I'm excited that ESO is going B2P. Most people are totally pissed about it. I'm happy because I hate MMOs and I will be able to finally play through the storyline without having to pay for that pos. I got the collector's edition... and played the beta and 5-days early access plus about a week of my free 30-days but haven't payed a cent for subscription cause it sucks so badly. But ES6 is in the works so yay.

I'll say, my favorite thing about ESO is the character creation since I can make an attractive elf without mods.

I finished my first one, but now every time I go back I play and then get bored... and when I come back, I'm compelled to make a new character as I have no recollection of what I was doing before. So I've literally only beat Alduin once, but that's because I save him for the literal final thing to do in a playthrough since the main quest is so short that I was disappointed the first time.

I tried playing Skyrim on Xbox 'cause I just picked it up one day out of curiosity but found it stupidly boring. I'm not generally an open world game fan just 'cause I prefer more linear plots. But the game is, admittedly, gorgeous and the soundtrack is amazing.

That aside, what do people think about modding? I know a fair bit about PC modding for Mass Effect and Dragon Age but not much for Skyrim. I've heard a lot of people say that the game is a lot better with mods. Anyone agree/disagree? 'Cause I'm definitely not a fan of the "vanilla" game but I really want to be 'cause it looks like it could be great, I just can't seem to get into it.

It's the best DLC but tbh, that isn't saying much. I just enjoyed revisiting Solstheim after not seeing it for so many years after Bloodmoon.

PS:Stealthy Redguard all the way B| With a nice One Handed and Shield skill too :D

I liked Skyrim but I kind of found it somewhat limiting on console. Your first playthrough is the best and I completed all main quest lines so by the time I did all main questlines e.g. Main Questline, Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild etc....I was kind of left wanting

Going from individually placed quest to individually placed quest became a chore if I'm being honest because you never felt there was much narrative.

The reason I found Skyrim limiting on console was because I checked out what the PC community can do and you suddenly feel envious.

Whenever you get a unique item, whether it be a daedric artifact or a cool sword you made, write down on a piece of paper (that you won't lose in the near future) where you put it.
I wish I had known this... I can't find most of my daedric artifacts and other cool things..

Speedrunning can be very difficult to learn. I would definitely advise everyone that wants to try and learn to start with a lot of patience.. It is very hard to get everything lined up just right for the run to go smoothly...
