Been feeling pretty crappy lately,I'm at a point where I feel lost (as in I don't know what I'm doing in life ). The stupid part is that I always come to the conclusion of there's no point to life so why does it matter? I use to take some pills for my anxiety, depression and insomnia but I abruptly stopped. Kinda want them back but now my parents think that those pills go against their religion. Which sucks because they have my medical card.plus if I asked for it they would freak out because they thought I was better after I came out of the hospital. Also not sure if the fact that I did some drugs and smoke cigarettes now woulf affect the pills negatively. Anyways I don't know what I should do. Just straight up lost. Can't even think clearly

medicinal and recreational drugs definatley don't mix and can be dangerous, maybe tell a close friend or teacher how you feel

Mixing drugs can be dangerous like Tasmin said, I think I know how you feel because I use drugs too and I know that medication would help me a lot better than the drugs I use but the feeling you get from the drugs is so much better than the feeling you get from medication and you get the feeling the drugs help you better but in fact that's not true.. Maybe you can seek some help with your drug use and I don't know if you go to a psychiatrist but maybe he can help you explain to your parents that you need medication?

Smoking and recreational drugs often have negative side effects and interactions with prescription medication.

How recently did you stop taking your medication? Stopping prescription medication abruptly can cause a relapse in depression and anxiety, sometimes worse than how you were feeling before. If it was fairly recent, I wouldn't be surprised if this is why you're feeling badly now. If a medication is working, sometimes people stop taking them because they think they're better when that's not the case. You feel better because the medication is helping with your symptoms, not making them go away entirely.

You should explain to your parents, if you can, that you think you need the medication. Just because you left the hospital possibly feeling a bit better, on stable medication, and in a better place than when you went in, does not mean everything is okay now. Depression and mental illnesses do not work that way. You don't go to see a doctor, get a pill, then bam -- cured! I wish it did.

You're 19, right? You're legally an adult. You can speak to any doctor without the permission of your parents and get any treatment or prescription deemed necessary without their consent. They have no control over your healthcare anymore unless you are deemed unable to make decisions for yourself. Right now, I don't think that is the case.

Your medical card, is it like insurance? I don't quite know how that all works where you are because I'm in Ontario where we're covered by OHIP automatically and my insurance covers the cost of all my medications. If it is, that doesn't stop you from seeing a doctor or getting prescriptions. But you may have to find a way to pay for these things yourself if they won't hand over your medical card. If it's insurance under their name, they have the right to withhold it. If it's something under your name, however, that is issued by the state, they cannot keep that from you.

You do have options, especially since you're older than a majority of users here who can't do anything without parental consent yet, you just need to look at them and determine what course of action you want to take.

Life does matter and I think you know it because you're acknowledging that perhaps the medication was doing some good and you shouldn't have stopped taking it. Let me know if you want to talk.

I stopped taking it about a year ago, of course I feel like utter crap...not sure if it's after effects of the drugs though(shrooms, mdma, thc, aderral) although I do feel like the meds would be better (of course without doing any of those drugs anymore )

it's a state insurance under my name, but my parents keep the card because they like to know everything that goes on with my stuff, they think it's wrong and would get into a stupid fight about it.

I stopped because the idiotic outpatient program I was in said they were done with me so they wouldn't give it to me anymore just gotta to show I was just a number, should of reported them.plus the therapist was always late to the appointments
