I'm a geek girl, a huge fan of Capcom games especially the Resident Evil series. I'm also a cosplayer and so is my best friend - Jim. We always go to the Comic Con events together.

We've known each other for over 10 years. He has always been a handsome boy but not the jock type, he's a geek like me. I had never been attracted to him until when the Resident Evil 5 was released, I looked at him and I was like 'OMG doesn't this remodeled Chris Redfield look exactly like you ?'. I mean I'm always obsessed with Chris Redfield and now there is a real Chris (Jim) standing in front of me ! That was not when I started my crush on Jim.

Later, I made Jim a Chris Redfield costume which I spent a lot of effort on and I was supposed to be Jill Valentine (Chris' partner) but my costume was super ugly so I decided not to wear it. Jim, on the contrary, was pefect in his costume. He looked exactly how I imagined him to be. He was like a younger, less muscular version of Chris Redfield and his face was simply beautiful.

Then, something started to grow inside me, I can't stop seeing Jim in Chris costume whenever I close my eyes. My heart beats like crazy when I see him. I can't even speak to him normally like before without blushing. I try to avoid him as much as I can and Jim's started to wonder. I can't tell him how I feel, he must think I'm freaky. This will ruin our friendship. I really don't know how to end this feeling. what should I do ?

You know, it sounds like that you don't really have feelings for Jim. You actually like the idea of the character and since Jim in costume kind of brings this character to life, that is why you are feeling how you are. Have a think about it, do you still feel that way about Jim if he wasn't in the costume etc? I reckon if you think about it that way, you'll be ok around Jim. Also, this isn't freaky, it's normal for people to think they like someone because of one specific thing about them, meaning they don't reall like them, but just the idea of them that they have placed in their head. I hope this makes sense?

I agree with Gumleaf on this, I think you've fallen for him because he cos-played as the character. You thought he was the actual person in a way, I'm not saying you may have fallen for Jim now but when he's not in the costume do you still feel the same way about him? could this be a character crush you developed while playing the games? so when Jim got the costume on, you automatically fell for the costume he was in and thought he was this character. Either way I think this is merely a crush type situation but either way if you do actually like Jim for himself then that's a different story altogether but right now I think it's just because you have a crush on the character.

thank you, actually I've never had a crush on Chris Redfield. When I said I was obsessed with the character, I meant that I always think Chris is an ideal man, a hero so I admire him kind of...

and I still find Jim very attractive even he's not in the costume. I mean, when I found out he looked like Chris Redfield, I realized something about Jim that I had never seen in him, something that made me fall in love with him. :(

You're welcome but hm could you still be falling for him because you just saw him in Character as "Chris Redfield"? Do you actually love Jim or did you just fall for the Character he was in, that's the question you need to ask yourself.

What was it that made you realize something about him?

I agree with this. Only you know how you feel, obviously we can't tell you. To me it's like you are trying to take the good parts of Jim and the character and combining them and now that makes Jim sound more attractive? If you really do love him, then I say go for it. But have a good think about it first, because in your reply it didn't sound too convincing.

I had the exact same thing except it was a tv character I say ignore any feelings because anything your 'crushing' on is not him but the game chracter

jim and I grow up together so I never thought about him as a guy that I could be in love with. I always saw him as my brother so I didn't really think about his face or his body or his characteristics. Everything about him was so natural to me that I didn't bother analysing like I always do with other boys. It's like when you go to a new place, you spend a lot of time to check it out but you never need to explore your own neighborhood.

you're right. I'm so confused by my feeling right now and I haven't figured it out yet so I definitely won't do anything that might alert him. But should I avoid him ? I'm afraid I can't be calm in front of him.

It feels better knowing I'm not the only one. thank you
