I'm in year 11 now and gonna be doing my GCSEs in summer.

We did mock exams before Christmas and I got my results back and I am completely failing everything, except English, which I got a C in

I know I'm not smart and I don't exactly always try as hard as I could, but for some reason it really upset me. I pretend to people at school that I don't care but maybe I do a little bit?

Before I came to this school last year my grades were higher, am I getting more stupid?

Not expecting relpies, just wanted to rant.

Thanks for listenin

[1] Be honest, are you actually working as hard as you should be?

[2] Try different techniques of learning, for example, although I get stuff easily (I'm lucky, I know). I went from notes -> watching videos on my troubles and it worked very well.

[3] Ask your teachers for 1 on 1s.

[4] Are your friends inhibiting your learning? If so it may be worth making some new friends; I was reunited with friends from year 1-8 at my new school this year but they had changed a lot.

[5] Organise your notes, I CANNOT stress this enough. It's great to be able to turn to a certain section and be able to find a topic in seconds:

I have all my notes/knowledge still with me from last year so if you need any help, free free to PM.
Hope this helped.

Hey Lottie, I'm in year 11 too and I know this is quite a stressful year. I don't think you failed, I think you don't praise yourself enough. Because although we don't know each other from the posts I've read I know you're a pretty smart girl. And a 'C' is really good you should praise yourself for that. I don't try hard either, and that's just one of the reasons my grades haven't been so good. I also pretend that I don't care, but lately I haven't been needing to do that because everyone just assumes I don't care. So I understand that it's upsetting. I know you care and I know you want to do well. I don't think you are becoming stupid, I think you're finding it hard to bounce back from setbacks. It's hard to have confidence in yourself, I know. My advice is take things one step at a time so it doesn't overwhelm you or stress you out. With studying I've always found that re-reading things and summarising them helps. Remember to take breaks because our brains don't function when we over work them. All the best luck for your exams, I have confidence in you and I know you can do it~
