If they're between three single people then I can't see the harm in them. If it's a couple adding a third person, then surely that's going to screw up their relationship?

I have done a couple of them with the same 2 people. I dont think they are as taboo as they used to be, in fact I think they are more common in the teen scene than most people realize.

I've never really heard of threesomes being frowned upon, maybe a bit weird. It's kind of become more of a fetish of sorts... I've had 2 threesomes and it's honestly a lot of fun. If you're okay with like a friends with benefits thing then you'll likely have one before too awfully long. At least that's my experience.

Not necessarily, there are many couples who have wild sexual fantasies about having another person join them. These are usually called "open" relationships or marriages.
