Hey everyone, to lay some facts out I am currently a virgin and am afraid I could have herpes! In the past I have tried to lick my own penis and have been successful, I noticed these bumps on my penis and am afraid it might be herpes! What should I do!!!
P.S. I only now got freaked out by it because my Health teacher brought up that if you have a cold sore or something and you give someone oral sex they automatically get herpes? Super scared, never had anyone down there other than myself.

dont, really know, I'll take another look tonight. When I looked up pictures of penis herpes it looked like it kinda. Theres like 12 into total, they are all really small and depending where they are can be in like a cluster?
EDIT: After talking to my mom she told me I have never had a cold sore in my life, still paranoid though. I've had my wiener looked at by my doctor recently for other reasons in the past and they have never said anything but I'm just afraid they missed it or something, idk I'm probably just paranoid, I'm unsure what else the small bumps could be. Anyone know what else it could be? I'm sure I've probably brought it up to my doctor and they said its fine, just being extremely paranoid at the moment, thank you guys for all the help so far!

Update: I wanted to let you guys also know that I've had the bumps for I feel like at least 2 years or so, I think if it was herpes doesn't it go in cycles or something like flare ups? Thanks again!

I'd say they're pretty common.

This link might help you identify them http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/menshealth/facts/spotsonthepenis.htm

either go to a free clinic or your doctor. but if you havent had sex or a girl/guy with them has not done anything to your penis, I don't see how it is possible

Don't think you have herpes since you're a virgin. I would go to the doctor just to be sure.

No sexual contact=no herpes, no venereal disease is possible...penis bumps are normal...

The same virus, herpes simplex, is the cause of cold sores and gentital herpes so it can be transferred. Cold sores (or other sores due to herpes) do not sched the virus all the time, only at certain times, but if you make contact during that time it can be transferring including gentital to oral and oral to genital.

That said the lack of cold sores in your case, along with the lack of sexual contact, makes genital herpes unlikely. Depening on where the bumps are I would suggest pearly penile papules or developing hair folicles which may not yet have sprouted a hair are both more likely reasons for bumps.

Don't have any experience here but I'd get it checked out to be safe

This is a very strange question. I highly doubt you have herpes through licking your own dick. That is VERY unlikely. It's most likely a reaction or is not clean enough. However, go to a clinic just to be safe.

For anyone who has bumps on the tip of their penis, there maybe a reason that is not so scary. I started noticing bumps when I was a freshman in high school. When I went to the doctor, it turns out they are common. They are called pearly penile papulouls. May have spelled that wrong. But if you look it up you may find that they are perfectly harmless as well as common. The doctor said that 1 in 5 people develope them. Hope this helps people!.

You're fine. This is normal your penis probably just isn't clean enough. You can go to a clinic or your doctor, they will understand. And depending on what state (or country) you live in you could drive yourself there if you don't want to tell your parents.

I'd say both of you are fine but to be safe you could go to a clinic or do research on herpes

It's not herpes if you have had these bumps for 2 years. Are the bumps painful? To put your mind at rest, get them check out. But if your doctor has never said anything, then things must be all right.

Thanks for the reply, no they arent painful, they're extremely small as well. I have to stretch the skin just to see them, I don't think they've changed in color, size, or spread. I was thinking maybe it could be something like Molluscum contagiosum or lichen nitidus. Doubt I could have herpes or anything but I'm going to my dermatologist next week and I'll ask them.

What your health teacher told you is technically correct, because a cold sore is created by a strain of the herpes virus. However, it is extremely unlikely that you "gave yourself herpes". You can go into the walk in clinic to confirm if you're concerned. Herpes isn't particularly dangerous or debilitating, however any STD isn't good.

I doubt it's herpes

I think your best bet would be to talk with your drs about it and see what they have to say about it. I am positive that its not herpes and only something pretty common amongst boys, but to be safe, consult your physician.

There is no really reason for going to hospital , because it is really usual .. And you can't get herpes without having sex , except "herpes simplex" ( everyone care simplex virus inside body , and it only shows when we are ill or when our imune system is weaken ) ... And it is extremely unusual to get "herpes simplex" on your penis ...

OMG, you DON'T have herpes from sucking yourself. I've done that more times than I can count! I'd get it checked out, but since you didn't say exactly where on your penis they are, if they're at the base of your penis, they're probably hair follicles that don't grow hair. Therefore they look like bumps. Every guy has them. You can see them on your scrotum too, but they grow hair on your scrotum.
